SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has voted to support the Trump administration’s lawsuit against California’s sanctuary laws.The board voted 3-1 Tuesday afternoon to support the lawsuit. The board directed that the County’s attorney to file an amicus brief supporting the federal lawsuit.The deadline to file a brief passed, so Chairwoman Kristin Gaspar said the earliest the county can file a brief is if the ruling is appealed to a higher court.RELATED: Escondido City Council votes to support sanctuary policy lawsuitSupervisor Greg Cox was the only one opposed to supporting the lawsuit. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A judge ordered California's attorney general to release police misconduct records predating Jan. 1, when new transparency legislation took effect.San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard B. Ulmer, Jr. on Friday also rejected arguments by Attorney General Xavier Becerra that his office should not have to release records of local law enforcement.The legislation was designed to guarantee public access to disciplinary records involving investigations into officer shootings, use-of-force incidents and incidents involving officer misconduct.The tentative ruling was a win for the First Amendment Coalition and National Public Radio member KQED-FM, which sued Becerra's office for records under the legislation."Judge Ulmer's order sends the clear message that the Attorney General is not above California law," said David Snyder, the coalition's executive director.In response, Becerra's office said Friday it would release records from before 2019 but only those regarding Department of Justice officers. The office said in a statement that requiring the office to release records involving other departments "would result in duplication of efforts."The judge ordered the attorney general's office to meet with the coalition and KQED to work out the logistics of releasing records.Ulmer said the 1st District Court of Appeal had already decided that the law is retroactive. SAN DIEGO, California — An 18-year-old San Diego woman died and her 16-year-old cousin were injured in a crash on Interstate 10 on the way to the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, a friend told KGTV television station in San Diego.Federico Pedrazzini confirmed Ginevra Gallone-Latte died in the crash in Banning early Thursday morning. Her cousin Manuela was injured.The California Highway Patrol said 21-year-old Cesar Hernandezozuna was speeding when his BMW drifted onto the dirt shoulder. The driver tried to get back onto the freeway but went over an embankment and hit two trees, officers said.The crash split the car in two. Gallone-Latte was thrown and died at the scene, according to the CHP.Her cousin was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Hernandezozuna suffered a facial injury, according to the CHP.Both teens had previously attended La Jolla High School.Officers ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors in the crash but had not determined the cause, the CHP said. 1019

San Diego Unified School Board president and math teacher Kevin Beiser will introduce a resolution at Tuesday night's meeting demanding action from state and federal lawmakers pass stricter gun control laws."It's an opportunity for us parents students and teachers to speak in unison and call on our elected officials to do what we know is right and implement reasonable gun reform now, said Beiser ahead of the meeting. The board did something similar after the Sandy Hook school shooting back in 2012 but Beiser thinks it's worth stating again. And although it's not included in the resolution, Beiser expects the issue of arming teachers to come up at the meeting.Last week President Trump said he favored arming teachers to protect students. 763

The comparison showed more than 20 cases where income was more than what was allowed at the time.Representatives with the housing commission said it is possible for people to be above the limit.  "We also have less than a quarter of one percent of our families who may exceed the 80 percent gross income, and that's a natural progression,” said Azucena Valladolid, Senior Vice President, Rental Assistance and Workforce Development. “Over the course of the time on our program, they may have increased their earnings.”RELATED: San Diego City Council passes affordable housing ordinanceValladolid explained that federal regulations require the San Diego Housing Commission to provide rental assistance to those families for an additional six months before they transition them off of the program.She said someone working for the housing commission determines whether or not someone qualifies for the voucher program.
