ZHANGZHOU, Fujian, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- President Hu Jintao on Friday visited some Taiwan businesses in Zhangzhou of southeastern Fujian Province ahead of the Spring Festival to extend New Year greetings.Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, visited a business park for Taiwan farmers in Zhangpu county of Zhangzhou City. The park, set up in 2006, houses more than 70 Taiwan-funded agricultural firms."We will try our best in everything that will benefit the Taiwan compatriots, and we will honor our words," Hu told the Taiwan business people.He said the mainland and Taiwan were negotiating on the cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement. "Its' something that will help promote cross-Strait economic cooperation and bring win-win results. BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- A cold front is expected to sweep the northern part of China over the next three days, bringing strong wind and a temperature drop, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) said Sunday.Small to moderate snow or sleet is forecast in the northern and southwestern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, western Tibet Autonomous Region and the northeastern part of China.The cold front will cause a temperature drop of four to six degrees Celsius since Feb. 15 in central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north China and northeastern China.The central and the eastern part of China will see a temperature drop of three to five degrees Celsius.Areas in Hunan and Guizhou provinces would expect freezing rain over the following three days.The CMA also said the blizzard condition which had stricken eastern Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces had eased to small to moderate snow or sleet.The National Meteorological Center had cleared the blizzard warning by 6 p.m. Sunday, 24 hours after the issuance, the CMA said.

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese market has more potential for U.S. exports, especially high-tech products, as only 6.7 percent of overall U.S. exports went to China, said Ministry of Commerce (MOC) spokesman Yao Jian Tuesday.The two countries were each other's second biggest trade partners, and China was willing to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with the United States to promote more balanced Sino-U.S. trade, Yao said at a press conference in Beijing.This aim could be reached if the United States reduced restrictions on exports of high-tech commodities to China, said Yao.Just 7 percent of China's high-tech imports come from the U.S., down from 18 percent in 2003.China's imports grew faster than exports in the first two months this year. Imports grew 63.6 percent compared to a 31.4-percent growth in exports, figures from the General Administration of Customs show.Yao said the ministry would make efforts to increase imports this year by relaxing import controls, hosting trade exhibitions, and providing free exhibition space for the least-developed nations.Zero tariffs would be offered to some under-developed countries or regions to boost bilateral trade.The MOC would also continue sending Chinese procurement teams to foreign countries this year to raise imports, Yao said.
