BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce Tuesday made a cautious prediction for the outlook of the nation's foreign trade for the rest of the year amid the fragile global economic recovery.The rebound of China's overseas shipments in the first quarter can largely be attributed to the low comparison base of the same period last year, the commerce ministry report said.Moreover, uncertainty in the global market remains as high unemployment in European Union nations and low capacity-utilization in the United States may dampen consumption and investment, the report said.China is facing deteriorating trade conditions as trade protectionism is on the rise, the report added.China suffered 19 trade-remedy investigations in the first quarter, up 93.5 percent over the same time last year. The investigations, targeting Chinese products, involved trade worth 1.19 billion U.S. dollars, the report said.The report also said higher costs may squeeze domestic enterprises' profits as a result of raw material price hikes and rising labor costs.China's exports increased 28.7 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2010 after dipping 16 percent last year amid the global economic downturn, customs data showed.

BRASILIA, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Brasilia on Wednesday for a summit of Brazil, Russia, India and China slated for Thursday and Friday, and a state visit to the Latin American state.At the summit of the four countries -- collectively known under their acronym BRIC, the leaders will discuss the global economy and financial situation, reform of the international financial system, climate change and cooperation among the four countries, Chinese diplomats said.President Hu has chosen Latin America as the destination of his first overseas trip so far this year. This is the policy France has been adhering to since the France-China diplomatic ties were established in 1964. There is no change in the policy.He said France is willing to work with China to further beef up cooperation and exchanges in fields including peaceful use of nuclear energy, aviation, transport, environmental protection, finance, agriculture and culture.After talks with Sarkozy, Hu said he will visit France at the invitation of Sarkozy.As a guest of Hu, Sarkozy is paying a state visit to China from April 28 to 30. He kicked off the visit in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province. He will attend the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo on April 30.
