SHIJIAZHUANG, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang had a full schedule on Saturday afternoon as he spent time in north Hebei Province visiting infant patients stricken by tainted milk powder, talking to doctors, dairy farmers and salesman in a local supermarket.     In Dingxing County Hospital of Hebei Province, he went to the infants ward where he talked to parents and inquired about the symptoms and progress of the patients' illness. Li made the remarks while talking to a salesman in Womei Supermarket in the county seat of Dingxing.     He then went to Shiqiao Village of Dingxing Township where he asked about the milk supply.     He asked local officials to take measures to ensure the farmers' interests would not be hurt by the scandal.     More than 6,200 infants developed kidney stones after drinking a baby formula tainted with melamine. The chemical, which was added illegally, makes the protein content of milk appear higher than it actually is. The formula has so far killed four infants.     Dairy giant Sanlu based in the Hebei provincial capital of Shijiazhuang was the first company exposed in the scandal.

China's hotel and catering industry saw its retail sales rose 24.3 percent in the first seven months over the same period last year, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said on Friday.The growth rate was 6.5 percentage points higher than the same period last year, said the MOC on its website.Retail sales of the country's hotel and catering industry amounted to 837.49 billion yuan (1.99 billion) between January and July, accounting for 14 percent of the nation's total domestic retail sales during the same period.China's retail sales of consumer goods in the first seven months of this year was 5.9672 trillion yuan, up 21.7 percent, compared with 15.5 percent growth rate recorded over the same period of last year.Foreign hotel and catering enterprises established 399 new branches in China during the January and July period, down 18.2 percent over the same period last year, while contract value rose 4.3 percent to .71 billion.The country's hotel and catering industry reaped 116.8 billion yuan in July alone, representing an increase of 26.5 percent over the same month last year, according to the MOC.

Your spirit has touched all Chinese people. I hope you will soon go back to your normal lives and build a better home."     At Dujiangyan Radio and Television Station, Li urged the technicians to repair the network as soon as possible to ensure that the people in the quake zone could enjoy radio and TV programs. Li hoped they could go deep into the front line of the quake and represent the feelings of the victims, soldiers and other relief workers.     "I believe you can create many artworks that will inspire the people affected by the earthquake," Li said.     He was accompanied by Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.     The death toll in the earthquake that jolted Sichuan Province and some other areas on May 12 rose to 69,107 as of Tuesday noon.

BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Sunday urged Hainan Province, China's largest special economic zone (SEZ), to further carry out reform and opening up as it embraces its 20th anniversary.     The province should "beef up reforms and make efforts to achieve breakthroughs in key fields", said Li during his inspection tour to the island province from Thursday to Sunday.     He suggested that the province should build itself into a shipping hub and center of logistics and export-oriented processing facing southeast Asia. SARAJEVO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- China and Bosnia pledged on Friday to strengthen cooperation between each other and push their relations to a higher level.     "China cherishes the traditional friendship with Bosnia, hopes to broaden political dialogues at different levels and deepen the exchange and cooperation in such fields as trade and lift the bilateral relations between the two countries to a higher level," visiting Chinese vice Premier Zhang Dejiang said.     Zhang made the comments in his meeting with rotating Chairman Haris Silajdzic of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Nebojsa Radmanovic, another member of the group made of three members.     "China regards Bosnia as a trust-worthy friend and partner, and we greatly appreciate Bosnia's stance on one-China policy and its support for China's great cause of peaceful unification with Taiwan," Zhang said.     Silajdzic congratulated China on successfully staging the 29th Beijing Olympic Games.
