Live Nation, the parent company of Ticket Master and the owner of dozens of concert venues across the country, said in a press release Wednesday that it was working with local governments in the hopes that its venues could be used as polling places in the upcoming election.So far, Live Nation says that four of its concert venues — The Wiltern and Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Emo’s in Austin and the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta — will be used as polling stations this November. More Than A Vote is a coalition of Black athletes led by LeBron James that are aiming to increase participation in the 2020 election among minorities.As part of an agreement to restart the 2020 NBA season, James and other players pushed for the league to adopt a provision in which it would explore ways that teams could use their arenas as polling places during the 2020 election. According to CBS News, about a dozen NBA arenas will host voters on election day, and several more will serve as early voting centers ahead of Nov. 3.However, several NBA teams have been told that they are not able to participate. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Multiple people were injured tonight when a stampede erupted at a gathering to honor slain rapper Nipsey Hussle in Hyde Park.It was not immediately clear what prompted the stampede, which occurred about 8:10 p.m. in front of The Marathon Clothing store near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue, where Hussle was gunned down Sunday afternoon.One person was critically injured and taken to a hospital, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County prosecutors are joining other district attorneys to use technology to wipe out 66,000 old marijuana convictions years after California voters broadly legalized the drug. The county is working with the nonprofit Code for America, which uses computer algorithms to find eligible cases that are otherwise hard to identify in old court documents. The group has offered its technology free to all of the state's 58 district attorneys. The program identifies eligible cases and automatically fills out forms to file with the courts. Prosecutors this week asked an Los Angeles judge to dismiss convictions for cases that date back to 1961. 679

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new rule approved by the California Horse Racing Board means jockeys competing in the state won’t be allowed to strike a horse more than six times during a race and then only in an underhanded position. The rule would allow no more than two strikes in succession using whips that must meet new board standards to soften the blows. The board voted 4-2 to approve the rule. Retired Hall of Fame jockey Alex Solis was one of the dissenters. 466
