IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating after a body was found along Imperial Beach Sunday morning. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, joggers told authorities they found a man in his 20s unresponsive in the water on the 700 block of Seacoast Drive. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead. The department says they suspect drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the death. The identity of the man hasn't been released at this time. 499
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was arrested on battery and hate crime charges Thursday after he punched a man who recently arrived from Afghanistan and threatened to kill his family.San Diego Police said Robert Compton, 48, was on a trolley in the Grantville area on Feb. 26 just before 12 p.m., when he approached a family of four who recently moved to San Diego from Afghanistan. The family was being given a tour from a Catholic charity helping them during their transition to the area.Police say Compton told the 41-year-old father and threatened to kill the family. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One person was killed and five others injured after a house caught fire in Logan Heights Sunday morning. Firefighters were called to the 3100 block of Clay Street around 4:30 Sunday morning after receiving reports of the fire. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, firefighters had to go inside and pull many of the victims out of the home. The condition of the other five victims is unknown at this time.According to a neighbor, a family of six lived in the home. One witness who was nearby when the fire started told 10News he could see one of the victims reaching through bars in the windows, unable to escape. At least three fire engines and dozens of firefighters responded to the blaze. At this time, it’s unclear what sparked the fire, but the metro arson strike team was called to the home to investigate. Crews blocked off a portion of Clay Street in the area due to the fire. 929
