All those items are in the bill. “Right now, there’s a good bill out there. That’s a great start to common sense gun control in this country and I ask that Gov. Scott sign,” he said. Scott will meet with parents Friday before deciding whether or not to sign the gun and school safety measure. Luke and some parents are working with Boca Middle School on creating a community watch-type program for parents to help patrol campus with school resource officers.The parents wouldn’t be armed, but provide and extra set of eyes to help the school resource officers look out for potential threats. 1982

Across the river in Windsor, during the same time, there were only three. “I would think that most Canadians are squeamish around firearms and don’t want any part of it,” said Al Frederick, Windsor’s police chief. “The difference, I think in my view, is the accessibility to firearms,” he said. “We don’t have a culture of people that are eager to carry or seek out to carry a firearm.”In Canada, unlike the U.S., it’s a crime for the average citizen to even walk around with a gun.  But that’s far from the only thing separating the two countries.A first-time gun buyer in the United States can walk into a store and leave with a gun the same day; in Canada, it can take months.The U.S. still allows for some gun purchases without a background check. That’s not the case in Canada, where they’re mandatory for any gun license. “Your file is given to an officer and it’s their job to go through it and prove that you are able to have a license,” said Brian Green of General Guns.While there’s often a push to expand gun rights in the U.S., in Canada there are few leading that fight. INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police are looking for a woman accused of shoplifting and throwing her own feces at an employee of an east side Menards.According to an incident report filed in the case, IMPD officers were dispatched to a Menards location around noon on Tuesday.Upon arrival, they spoke with the store’s loss prevention officer, who told them he’d spotted a woman take a video camera out of its box and place it into her open personal bag.When the loss prevention officer attempted to stop the woman from leaving the store, she “reached behind her and dug into her pants and pulled out a handful of feces and threw it at him, striking him on his chest.”The loss prevention officer said the woman then ran out of the door.Police said the stolen camera was eventually recovered, and investigators were able to recover surveillance video. The woman had not yet been identified.  906

INDIANAPOLIS -- Two teachers and a student at Decatur Central High School spent some time in the hospital on Monday after a man got into the school and tried to attack a studentA district spokesperson says anyone entering Decatur Central High School has to be buzzed through a locked door by an employee inside.  Tyrese Little, 18, was buzzed into the school along with family members who had students who attend the high school. The school spokesperson said he was in the main office of the building when he saw a student with whom he had a problem and went into the hall to confront him.“I saw the wrestling coach try to stop him and he couldn’t really stop him and at that point, most of the teachers in that hallway had detained this person and got a hold of him and they had him in handcuffs,” student Jayson Wagner said. “The wrestling coach is a pretty big guy, and he couldn’t even stop him.”A 16-year-old student and two teachers were injured and taken to the hospital to be treated.The school was never placed on lockdown and Little did not have any weapons on him at the time of his arrest. The school spokesman says a school resource officer was nearby to help take little down.Little is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury and battery against a public safety official.  1317
