BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Monday urged greater efforts to make the training of officials more pertinent to and effective in raising their skills at governing.Push forward the reform of the training of officials unswervingly so that the training could better serve the scientific development of the country, said Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee at a conference on the reform in Beijing on Monday.He added that the training must be both relevant and complementary to officials' jobs and called for the optimization of the systems that educate officials on Party theories, governance and Party spirit.He stressed the need to create a diverse official training system with more involvement from higher-learning institutions and research institutes besides the current main training channel of Party schools and administration schools.He also called for better training of officials at grassroots levels.The general office of the CPC Central Committee issued the text of the reform outlines for the period of 2010 to 2020 on Tuesday. BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China Tuesday pledged to continue to promote the development of military relations with Singapore.Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie made the remarks when meeting with Chiang Chie Foo, visiting Permanent Secretary of the Singaporean Defense Ministry.Recent years had witnessed a rapid development of China-Singapore relations, with political mutual trust, a reciprocal and mutually beneficial economic relationship and fruitful cooperation, Liang said.Bilateral military ties had undergone a healthy development, with sound exchanges and cooperation mechanisms, frequent high-level visits and good cooperation in personnel training, joint military training and escort missions, Liang said.China was willing to work with Singapore to continuously boost relations between the two countries and armed forces, so as to play an active role in jointly safeguarding regional security and stability, he said.Chiang said Singapore attached great importance to the development of its relations with China.The two armed forces were expected to maintain exchanges and cooperation and to strengthen understanding and mutual trust, he said.Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and Chiang co-chaired the third China-Singapore defense policy dialogue before the meeting.Both sides exchanged views in-depth on regional security, relations of the two countries and armed forces as well as other issues of common concern and reached consensus on further strengthening military ties.They agreed to continue to enhance China-Singapore military cooperation and promote the development of friendly and cooperative military relations.The two nations held the first defense policy dialogue in January 2008 in China and the second in March 2009 in Singapore.

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisory body Tuesday started a new seminar to improve the capabilities of 296 national political advisors in advising the government work.During the four-day seminar, the participants, who were from 34 walks of life, will attend lectures and hold panel discussions focusing such topics as how to persisting in and improving the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, as well as the basic requirements for advisors to better perform their duties.Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top advisory body in China, met with the participants at the opening ceremony of the seminar.The seminar is the fifth of the kind ever organized by the 11th CPPCC National Committee.
