BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese equities dropped to a seven-month low Tuesday, after the central bank said Sunday it would raise the deposit reserve requirement ratio (RRR) for most financial institutions for the third time this year.The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 1.23 percent to close at 2,835.28 points.The Shenzhen Component Index fell 1.81 percent to 10,960.77 points.Total turnover shrank to 141.55 billion yuan (20.7 billion U.S. dollars) from 191.91 billion yuan on the previous trading day.Losers outnumbered gainers by 533 to 347 in Shanghai and 488 to 429 in Shenzhen.

BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Vice Premier Li Keqiang has told the health care authorities Sunday to train more general practitioners for the expansion of basic health care coverage and improvement of grassroots medical services, a press release said Sunday.Li, who is in charge of the national reform of health care system, made the remarks at a State Council, or Cabinet, meeting on expanding the reform on Friday in Beijing.The meeting came one year after China launched its massive health care reform, which seeks to provide adequate and affordable health care services to all. BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government has allocated 200 million yuan (29.3 million U.S. dollars) from the central fiscal for disaster relief in quake-hit Qinghai Province, the Ministry of Finance said late Wednesday.The fund was to support relief efforts including evacuation, resettlement, medical treatment and epidemic prevention.A 7.1-magnitude quake hit the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in Qinghai early Wednesday morning, leaving at least 400 people dead and 10,000 others injured.
