(KGTV) — A piece of cinema history located in North San Diego County will soon have a new home.The historic Graves House featured in the 1986 action flick "Top Gun" is being relocated and restored to make room for the Oceanside Beach Resort coming to the property.It's the first time the popular beach cottage rental, which was built about 137 years ago, will be moved.RELATED: Oceanside beach resort closer to construction after decade of delaysNot only is the home significant because it served as "Charlie's" home in the film, but it's a rare folk Victorian home, featuring architecture rarely seen nowadays.The home isn't moving far. It's already been relocated one block away for structural restoration. Afterward, it will be moved to the north side of the property on Pacific Street. On Aug. 26, 2017, 15-year-old Damon Grimes was involved in a police pursuit while driving an ATV in Detroit. That pursuit ended in a crash that claimed Grimes’ life.Reporters at Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit requested video from the crash under the Freedom of Information Act, and received 25 hours worth of video from police body cameras and dash cameras, surveillance video and cell phone video shot by witnesses that tell the story of the senseless death.Officials did not provide footage from the dash cam of the pursuit by Michigan State Troopers, Mark Bessner and Ethan Berger.At 5:31 p.m., video shows Damon Grimes riding his ATV down Rossini Avenue and Gratiot in Detroit. At that time, Trooper Mark Bessner requested priority to chase an ATV.“He flipped. Flipped!” Detroit Police Officer Williams said, video shows.“Yup, tell them there’s an accident,” said DPD Officer Boersman, who was first on the scene.Grimes had hit a parked Ford F-150 with his ATV and he flew off the four-wheeler.“0-9, he’s slowed down, we tased him and he crashed out. Others got disoriented, even in their own apartments, and cried out for help.At least 20 seniors with wheelchairs and walkers were essentially trapped, in the dark, in a low-income apartment complex in Northern California during a two-day power shut-off aimed at warding off wildfires.Residents of the Villas at Hamilton in Novato, north of San Francisco, say they were without guidance from their property management company or the utility behind the blackout as they faced pitch-black stairwells and hallways and elevators that shut down."We were surprised by how dark it was," said Pamela Zuzak, 70, who uses a walker to get around. "There was nothing, nothing lit. It was like going into a darkroom closet, pitch black, you couldn't see in front of you."Pacific Gas & Electric Co. shut off power to more than 2 million people over the weekend to prevent its equipment from sparking fires amid hot, dry gusts. OMAHA, Neb. — A principal at a Nebraska elementary school has been placed on administrative leave after she released a memo discouraging teachers from putting up Christmas-themed decorations in their classrooms.Jennifer Sinclair of Manchester Elementary in Elkhorn, Nebraska, sent the memo teachers encouraging them to put up non-denominational winter decorations in the public school as opposed to Christmas-themed decorations."Red and green items," "candy canes" and "reindeers" were deemed unacceptable holiday decorations were specifically mentioned in the memo.The Elkhorn School District released its own statement saying the principal's memo did not reflect school policy.The principal also sent an apology letter, in which she stated that she was wrong to set such rules about classroom decorations.Manchester Elementary parents now stand divided on the issue."I feel that something was wrong with what she was doing. she was kinda enforcing or making the rest of her school think the way she did," said Vicki Dryden, a grandmother of a Manchester student.A mother of two Manchester students said she thinks the principal being put on administrative leave has blown the situation way out of proportion, especially since the principal has since sent an apology letter."I just don't think we could ask for a better principal," she said. 1355
