According to caring.com, San Diego ranks 159th out of 302 cities nationally for best and worst cities for seniors. San Diego ranked high on the list when it comes to quality of life, ranking 94th out of the 302 cities. Some areas where San Diego ranked lower include healthcare,180th out of 302 and affordability, placing 194th out of 302. In California, San Diego ranked fairly low, coming in at 45th among 75 cities. The best cities in The Golden State for seniors are San Francisco, Woodland Hills, Santa Monica and Burlingame. Nationally, San Francisco also took the top spot, followed by Fredericksburg, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Boston Massachusetts. Caring.com rated the cities using data on healthcare, housing options, community engagement, transportation, quality of life and workforce development. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, seniors will outnumber kids by 2035. A separate study found that retirees in America's Finest City are downsizing to make it in San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died Sunday morning after California Highway Patrol says his car flipped over before slamming into a tree in National City. According to CHP, the crash happened around 3 a.m. on I-805 south near Plaza Boulevard. Officers say the vehicle was speeding when the driver lost control and flipped several times before hitting the tree. The crash was the second deadly collision on the 805 south in two days. Saturday morning, a wrong-way driver crashed into another vehicle on I-805 south near the I-8 connector. According to CHP, both drivers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The wrong-way driver later died at the hospital. 832

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new grant is helping a San Diego nonprofit expand its services during the coronavirus pandemic.Kitchens for Good recently got a ,000 grant from the San Diego Foundation and San Diego Gas & Electric.With the new money, Kitchens for Good is now cooking 7,000 meals each week, which local food banks give away to people in need.The meals are "heat and eat," said co-founder Aviva Paley. That helps people who can't cook or don't have a full kitchen get healthy meals."If you are a home-bound senior or someone who doesn't have a full kitchen or the capacity to cook for yourself, it can be really difficult to turn that bag of mixed match groceries into a healthy nutritious meal," said Paley.Before the pandemic, Kitchens for Good made 2,000 meals per week. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A red flag warning has been issued for a large swath of San Diego County amid windy, dry conditions. The warning lasts through 6 p.m., Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Winds will pick up throughout the day Sunday along coastal mountain slopes and through valley corridors below passes and canyons. Strong winds are also expected over the Inland Empire below the Cajon Pass. Meanwhile, humidity is expected drop to 10 percent.
