(KGTV) -- Viral video shows California Highway Patrol blocking off a lane of traffic to help geese across the Bay Bridge.CHP posted the video on Facebook Saturday that shows the geese and brood wandering along the right shoulder of the road KGO reported. The geese made it safely off the bridge thanks to the CHP officers. On the 19th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, the United States will mourn the thousands killed in the terror attacks in a series of memorials across the country.Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many of the memorial events — which have become solemn traditions in recent years — will look different in 2020. Some ceremonies will feature reduced capacity or will take place virtually to prevent the spread of the virus.In New York City, a remembrance ceremony took place at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in Lower Manhattan — the former site of the World Trade Center. The names of all those killed in the New York attack were read aloud beginning at 8 a.m., and moments of silence were held at the times when the planes hit the towers and at the times when the towers fell.In Washington, D.C., a large flag was unfurled at the Pentagon at the spot where a plane struck the building. (AP) — A pregnant Florida woman didn’t let labor stop her from casting her vote in the presidential election.Officials with the Orange County Supervisor of Elections said the woman was already in labor when she arrived at the polling site with her husband Tuesday.Staffers said the husband asked for a ballot for his wife and later told the staff that she was in the car, in labor and refusing to go to the hospital until she was able to vote.The woman filled out the ballot right away while doing some controlled breathing and was later taken to the hospital.Staff at the elections office told WKMG that they plan on getting the baby a onesie with the words “first vote” on it and stickers that say “future voter.”“I hope that the baby is safe, and she is safe, and that they’re assured that their ballot was put in the ballot box and their vote will be counted,” voter services worker Karen Brice?o González told WKMG. 942

On the same day Dick's Sporting Goods announced it would no longer carry assault rifles, Walmart said on Wednesday that it is raising the minimum age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21. The announcement comes two weeks after a 19-year-old confessed gunman took the lives of 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida. The massacre has since reignited a national debate on gun control. It has also caused a number of companies, most notably Delta Airlines and Enterprise Rental Cars, to end its support of the National Rifle Association. Walmart said it will begin enforcing the new rule as soon as possible. The company said the rule is one of many Walmart has implemented that goes beyond federal gun laws."We take seriously our obligation to be a responsible seller of firearms and go beyond Federal law by requiring customers to pass a background check before purchasing any firearm," Walmart said in a press release. "The law would allow the sale of a firearm if no response to a background check request has been received within three business days, but our policy prohibits the sale until an approval is given."Walmart added that in 2015, it stopped selling some assault rifles, including AR-15s. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Oceanside could be getting a new active sports complex, complete with a man-made wave pool, perfect for surfing competitions, according to Mayor Peter Weiss. The idea is in it's beginning stages, no formal paperwork has been submitted to the city clerk. 10News spoke with her Wednesday and she said the developer, Zephyer Partners, has been talking with council members.Neighbors have already been hearing construction equipment hacking away at the remains of the drive-in that operated before the swap meet took over."When I was driving by and I saw you standing here I thought I need to find out because she probably knows more than I do," Neighbor Liz Lewellen said.She said the neighborhood has been wondering what could happen to the lot. Mayor Weiss told 10News the developer gave him this pitch, "n active sports complex, there would be a BMX track, a climbing wall, things like that, it would also have a hotel and then sports oriented retail." He also described a wave pool that mimics the Kelly Slater Surf Ranch in Fresno. The facility is state-of-the-art and perfect for competitions.The idea sparking interest in the community. Lewellen was shocked and excited when she heard."I love the idea that it's commercial coming in because this area desperately needs more restaurants more things," Lewellen said. "So that's really exciting, I know that we have the skate park up the street and that's been a god send for the kids and the active people in the neighborhood."Thursday Zephyr Partners will host a community workshop at Saint Mary Star of the Sea School from 6-8 p.m."It's something unique, I think I'd like to actually see the plans what they're proposing," Weiss said.When asked if Lewellen would try out the wave pool, "I've always wanted to learn how to surf," she said laughing, "so maybe, we'll see, if it's the perfect wave, maybe someone can train me how to perfectly get up on the board."Lewellen had one concern though, wondering how traffic would affect her drive to and from home.Zephyr Partners did not respond to 10News's request for comment.
