HOUSTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has rejected a lawsuit backed by President Donald Trump to overturn Joe Biden's election victory, ending a desperate attempt to get legal issues rejected by state and federal judges before the nation's highest court. The court's order Friday was its second this week rebuffing Republican requests that it get involved in the 2020 election outcome. In a blog post, Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas said that Texas "has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections." (KGTV) - An Imperial Beach family made a chilling discovery at home: a circular piece of glass cut perfectly from the window of a toddler's nursery while he and his mother were inside.Along Emory Street, something peculiar happened last Monday. Vanya found some needed extra gravel on his property, courtesy of some nearby construction workers."They told me the homeowner had given them permission," said Vanya. The problem? Vanya owns the home and never gave permission. Vanya believes the imposter came back two days later, while his wife and one-year-old son were home around noon.RELATED: MMA fighter takes down suspected home burglar"The way she describes it, it sounded just like glass being popped in," said Vanya.Vanya's wife raced up stairs. She thought her son had broken something, but he was asleep in the master bedroom. Meanwhile, the blinds in the nursery were closed, and she thought the sound may have come from a neighbor's home. Then on Sunday, with the blinds open, the family found it: a 5-inch-diameter perfect circle cut out from the nursery window. (KGTV) - A recent break to a sewage pipe south of the U.S.-Mexico border is allowing sewage to flow freely into the Tijuana River Valley and Pacific Ocean, officials say.The International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) said they were alerted to the break in the Tijuana sewage pipe by Mexico authorities recently. The pipe broke Dec. 7, according to Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina, though the city was notified Tuesday.IBWC officials said Wednesday, "CESPT (Tijuana Water Utility) has informed us through the Mexican Section that a rupture was discovered yesterday on the Colector Poniente in Southeast Tijuana. This rupture caused the soil above the pipe to collapse in an auto junkyard. Several sinkholes were discovered yesterday by the workers at the property and notified CESPT who then diverted the flows upstream to a stormwater collector which drains to the Tijuana River. "The IBWC estimated the flow of sewage into the Tijuana River to be at 300 liters per second, or approximately 7 millions gallons per day. (KGTV) - Parents in Imperial Beach say the conditions are Reama Park could be dangerous to their children, as playground equipment is starting to show signs of deterioration."It's not normal wear and tear," says Casandra Stoll, who brings her daughter to the park almost every day. "I'd say it's something that needs to be addressed for sure."Stoll says her daughter tore her pants on a crack that developed in one of the slides. She also pointed out parts of the playground where rust and cracked plastic have created jagged edges."If she were to get cut on that, you have to worry about tetanus and any other kind of infection you can get," says Stoll.Other areas of the park have patches in the padded ground that are missing. Even the plastic coverings on park benches and tables have been worn away to expose the rusted metal.Rust on the playground equipment has also created holes in the pipes. Some of them are big enough for a child's finger to get stuck in.Parents says they understand that the playground won't always be in pristine condition. They're willing to accept some rust from the sea-air and normal wear and tear on the equipment. But they say the damage at Reama Park is too much.Sam Townsley brings his daughter Samantha to the park often. He wants her to be able to run free and have fun but says he's keeping an eye out for damage and danger."She's got a sense of autonomy," he says. "As long as there's no overt risk, it's alright."Parents say they hope the city can make repairs quickly."I just hope they can maintain it and keep it up and keep it safe for all the kids to enjoy for years to come," says Stoll.The City of Imperial Beach responded to 10News Tuesday, saying they’re waiting for money to come from the state parks bond, and expect to receive 0,000 for repairs within the next fiscal year.Officials also said they’re aware of the problems, and that Reama Park is in the worst condition of any Imperial Beach park. 1985
