JIUQUAN, Gansu, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The crew of China's Shenzhou-7 space mission is scheduled to meet the press at 17:30 on Wednesday.     In addition, the headquarters of China's third manned space mission will hold another press conference at 14:30 Wednesday.     The crew, who will conduct the first Chinese space walk, is waiting for a launch window at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gansu Province.     Depending on weather, the launch is scheduled between Sept. 25 and 30. The undated photo shows technicians help the Shenzhou-7 manned spaceship to dock with the Long-March II-F rocket at an assembly plant. The spaceship has been finished docking with the rocket recently.    The Shenzhou-7 spacecraft will send three Chinese astronauts who will make a historical spacewalk.     Six Chinese astronauts are ready for the mission, three pilots who will finally be aboard and three substitutes.     However neither the military or the mission's headquarters has officially released their identities, even though many local websites had reported various stories on six favorites.     According to the headquarters' release, three pilots and three substitutes said they were fully confident to successfully accomplish the mission.     After three hours of tests and safety examinations in the last rehearsal on Monday, the mission has been given the green light.     Scientists working for the mission said on Tuesday that the carrier rocket of the spacecraft was ready to be fueled, bringing the launch to the countdown status.

BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Finance said late Friday it allocated another 3.78 billion yuan (548 million U.S. dollars) in subsidies to help low-income families against the latest fuel price hikes announced a day earlier.     Of the total, 1.85 billion yuan will go to urban low-income families, and the rest will be offered to such families in rural areas, the ministry said.     Low-income families in cities would get an extra 15 yuan for each person every month starting from July, 10 yuan for rural families, according to the announcement on Thursday. BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's central bank on Friday said it will continue international cooperation to tackle the global financial crisis and maintain market stability.     The pledge came two days after the People's Bank of China (PBOC) announced an interest rate cut in a co-ordinated global move to revive solvency in the international financial system.     The PBOC on Wednesday cut the benchmark lending and deposit rates by 0.27 percentage points and the reserve requirement ratio by 0.5 percentage points amid growing fears of a slowing economy and falling equities market.     "The PBOC will continue close contacts and cooperation with counterparts and international financial organizations to jointly maintain stability of global financial market," PBOC spokesman Li Chao told Xinhua.     The PBOC would closely watch the developments and effects of the crisis and take timely and flexibly measures according to changes in the domestic and international situations to guard against financial risks, Li said.     The global economic slowdown reduced demand for Chinese exports and inevitably affected China's economy, he said.     The central bank was fully confident and capable of dealing with the crisis and maintaining stable and relatively fast economic growth.     "China has a huge domestic market and the liquidity is abundant," he said. "As long as we take strong measures to boost domestic demand, the economy has big potential for sustainable growth."     A PBOC statement on the third-quarter meeting of its monetary policy committee said it would take flexible and prudent macro-economic control measures to boost economic growth.     The PBOC was not optimistic in its global economic outlook as intensifying fluctuations in the financial markets had affected the real economy.     It said it would boost coordination between monetary policies and fiscal, industry, export and financial regulation policies to help transform economic growth mode and boost domestic demand to balance international payments.

BUDAPEST, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Jia Qinglin, head of China's top political advisory body, on Thursday met with Hungary's parliament speaker and put forward a package of proposals for further expanding friendship and cooperation between China and Hungary.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held talks with Szili Katalin, speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly in Budapest Thursday morning.     During the meeting, Jia suggested that the two countries should maintain high-level contact so as to deepen political trust. The two countries should also expand trade and economic cooperation in a bid to promote common development. China will continue to encourage well-established companies to invest in Hungary. It will also adopt effective measures to increase imports from Hungary and encourage enterprises from both countries to carry out active and concrete cooperation, Jia said. She said the two countries should seize the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties to push the development of bilateral relations.     Hungary attaches great importance to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the Shanghai World Exposition and will actively participate in the two great events, Szili said.     She said Hungary gives priority to its relations with China in its overall foreign policy. As a member of the European Union, Hungary is ready to make active contributions to the development of EU-China relations.
