White House chief of staff John Kelly announced at a senior staff meeting Monday that President Donald Trump asked him to stay on as chief of staff until at least 2020 -- and that he agreed -- three White House officials confirmed to CNN.The news came after Kelly marked his first anniversary as chief of staff amid a swirl of rumors about his potentially imminent departure. The Wall Street Journal first reported news of Kelly's plans.Kelly has seen his status as chief of staff diminished in recent months, with the President circumventing many of the policies and protocols the retired Marine Corps general put in place when he entered the West Wing last year.In the two weeks leading up to Trump's disruptive swing through Europe, senior aides predicted that Kelly had days or hours left. Those same aides now think the ensuing chaos of the trip may have helped Kelly hang on a little longer.The-CNN-Wire 917

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The release of a sealed deposition of Ghislaine Maxwell, disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's longtime confident, was delayed until Monday, court records show.A federal judge ordered the release be held until Monday, providing Maxwell a brief window to appeal a previous order unsealing the record. The deposition was initially scheduled for release Thursday.Maxwell, 58, faces criminal charges in federal court of enticement and conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, transportation, and conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and two counts of perjury.Maxwell was arrested in early July and pleaded not guilty to those charges. A judge denied bail in the case and ordered Maxwell held in jail, pending her trial. The judge overseeing the civil case denied Maxwell's request to outright block the release of the sealed documents. The documents are part of a 2016 civil lawsuit filed by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, and include emails and depositions by others, including Giuffre and an anonymous Epstein accuser. The case was settled in 2017, but Giuffre has since fought to have records previously sealed in the case released publicly. The judge set a trial date in Maxwell's criminal case for July 2021.This story originally reported by Erik Altmann on wptv.com. 1401
White House aides drafted a fulsome statement for President Donald Trump on the death of Sen. John McCain, but it was never sent out, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN.Several staff members believed the official White House statement, which went through an internal approval process, would be released at the time of the Arizona Republican's death, which occurred on Saturday. But as the President spent Sunday at his Virginia golf course, the statement never went out, the source said.White House aides did not make plans for a televised statement on McCain's passing, which would have been routine under similar circumstances in other recent presidencies. The Washington Post reported Sunday that Trump went against the advice of senior aides to issue an official White House statement praising McCain for his heroism and decades of service, telling aides he instead wanted to post a brief tweet.Trump's tweet Saturday night did not mention his military or Senate service or include any praise for the late Arizona Republican. 1052
