While we can't get into the detail of a member's account, we have worked with Mr. Bruce to bring the matter to resolution.""After we notified you all, we got a call from one of the CEOs down there… that she was working with the investigations and she said they found an error,” Larry said.The couple said a new investigation revealed they had nothing to do with the fraud, and their accounts were unfrozen, and funds replaced.Officials with USAA told the Bruce's they believe the fraudster was able to hack Larry's email address and somehow gain access to their account, but that the paper trail didn't go very far.To protect yourself from bank fraud, USAA gives this advice:Never provide your personal or banking information to unauthorized individuals. Fraudsters ask for things such as personal identifiers, debit or credit card information and account numbers.Be cautious when asked to make a deposit or send money back. Fraudsters sometimes convince you to make a deposit or payment to reduce your debt and provide an account number/routing number to use, but require a fee to be sent to the fraudster when the payment is made. The payment will return, the fee will be lost, and the account holder will be responsible.Contact your bank immediately if you provide your personal banking information to an unauthorized individual or see suspicious activity on your account.Consider changing online banking and email passwords on a regular basis. A California man returned to the scene of the crime earlier this week to apologize for what he allegedly did. According to KOVR-TV, Derek German was charged with receiving stolen property.The outlet obtained security camera footage of German returning to a convenience store to apologize for breaking into the store a week earlier.Before the apology, German allegedly broke into the store and entered through the store’s ceiling. He then attempted to reach the safe, but was unsuccessful. But a chance turn into one alley just north of Chicago will transport you into a drive-thru art gallery. “I wanted to take this place this alley which is just ugly or lackluster and make it into something special,” explained Teresa Parod. The Evanston, Illinois-based painter and artist is the person behind several vibrant garage door murals. From floral motifs to interplanetary themes, her goal she says is to uplift people through her painting. “I want all my public art to be positive because no one who walks down this alley… most didn't ask me to paint this,” she said. “So, I don't want them to come and see some something that is very negative or makes them feel unhappy.” The canvases range from one-and-a-half to two car garage doors. She only charges for material. The medium: house paint. “What I really like is when people come who are not in the neighborhood and they're just riding their bikes or walking dog and they're like well what is this? And it's something special,” said Parod. The artist started with her own door, concerned with how her neighbors might respond. “This is my own garage. And I thought it would be fun to put the front of my house on my garage,” she said. But many have embraced transforming the back alley into a gallery of vibrant, public works of art.
