Cooled to negative 320 degrees, using liquid nitrogen cooled food has become a trendy and cool way of eating. But eating products so cold comes with risks. On Thursday, the FDA issued a warning for foods cooled by liquid nitrogen. The FDA says consuming products marketed as "Dragon’s Breath," "Heaven’s Breath," "nitro puff," among others could cause serious injury. Liquid nitrogen quickly freezes food, but even after the liquid has completely boiled into a gas, the extreme cold of the food and the displacement of oxygen could cause health concerns. "The FDA has become aware of severe -- and in some cases, life-threatening -- injuries, such as damage to skin and internal organs caused by liquid nitrogen still present in the food or drink," the FDA said in a statement. "There has also been a report of difficulty breathing after inhaling the vapor released by liquid nitrogen when added immediately before consumption. Injuries have occurred from handling or eating products prepared by adding liquid nitrogen immediately before consumption, even after the liquid nitrogen has fully evaporated due to the extremely low temperature of the food."The FDA's warning does not extend to all foods cooled by liquid nitrogen. "Other foods treated with liquid nitrogen prior to the point of sale and before consumption, for example some frozen confections, are treated in such a way that results in the complete evaporation of liquid nitrogen before reaching the consumer and are no longer at an extremely low temperature, and therefore do not pose a significant risk of injury," the FDA says. 1646

Crews at a construction site in Denver, Colorado, are working around the clock, trying to keep up with an increased demand by building more housing.“It’s getting really interesting out there isn’t it,” said Stephen Myers CEO at Thrive Home Builders.Myers says though the real estate market is booming across the country, an increased cost of lumber is cutting into builders’ profits.“The increase is ,000 to 12,000 per house,” he said of his current project. “And we’re concerned about the ultimate price impact for our buyers.”According to the National Association of Home Builders, the price of lumber has increased by 173% since mid-April to an all-time high in August.“Without a doubt, the housing prices will go up because lumber is a very important input of houses,” said Kishore Kulkarni, Ph.D. a professor of economics at MSU Denver.Kulkarni says there’s multiple reasons why lumber prices have skyrocketed during the last few months, including higher transportation costs, some lumber mills shutting down, low interest rates and more people looking to purchase homes during the pandemic.“The supply of lumber is having a lot of bottlenecks because of COVID-19,” he said,This is pushing up the price of a typical new home by more than ,000, according to the National Association of Home Builders.Back on the job site, Myers’ team is pulling out the blueprints and looking for ways to offset higher lumber prices.“Hopefully the lumber supply can rise to the occasion to meet the increased demand,” Myers said.While crews continue to frame new houses, experts predict the cost of lumber won’t level.So, for now, prices will continue going through the roof. 1676

CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The owner of The Coronado Flower Lady, a popular flower stand along Orange Avenue, is trying to rebuild after a suspected drunk driver destroyed her business. Coronado police say 22-year-old Elias Atayee is being charged with felony DUI after crashing his car into the stand. They say Atayee also had a female passenger inside his car. RELATED: Driver slams into Coronado pole, picnic tables“The fact that there are people drinking and driving, going 90-100 miles per hour, I have my kids out here with me all the time at work," owner Shanel Albert said. "There are tons of kids out here and people. If one of my girls would have been here during the day and that happened, they would have been dead. And that scares me.” Thanks to the City of Coronado, Albert will be back selling her flowers on a table in the same spot until she can permanently rebuild her stand. CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Clinton Township Police confirm they are investigating after a hidden camera was discovered inside the women's changing area and bathroom at the Switch CrossFit on Morelli Drive.The hidden camera was found April 12. Police have identified a suspect and are in the process of securing a warrant for arrest Thursday.It is not known how many victims there are, and police say it is believed the suspect is an employee. Phones and computers have been recovered as part of an ongoing investigation. 535

CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Coronado Unified School District is mourning the loss of one of their most popular crossing guards. Bruce Campbell, or Mr. Bruce as the kids knew him, passed away on Monday. According to his brother, Bruce was at work Monday when he collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital. Campbell went into cardiac arrest and passed away on his way to the hospital. Students and parents set up a memorial on the corner of Sixth and F Street, where he worked every day for the last several years. His brother tells 10News he died doing the job he loved most. In a statement, the district told the Coronado Times that school counselors will be working with students as needed. Bruce Campbell was 68 years old.  770
