Liu said the roundtable discussion was an important activity of non-governmental exchange between the two sides across the Strait, adding that delegates had discussed several topics such as the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations and promoting developing opportunities for youth from Taiwan on the mainland, reaching a series of consensuses.
"The practice of China's reform and opening-up has fully proven that only by win-win cooperation can a country achieve long-term development," he said.
The two countries are expected to publish a joint statement to intensify their joint construction of the Belt and Road and people-to-people exchanges, Kong added.
The conference, China's 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up: Implications for the World and Role of Hong Kong, was jointly hosted by the Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and the Better Hong Kong Foundation.
The areas of cooperation also included the circular economy, smart city development, and ways to tackle climate change.
