Forget the shirt and shoes; no service for people on horseback at Starbucks in Anthem, Arizona. A Valley girl is frustrated after trying to ride her horse through the drive-thru when the barista said nay. Aspen Cline had seen internet videos of others riding their horses through the Starbucks drive-thru and decided that's what she wanted to do for her birthday. Instead, she and her horse, Scout, were shut down by the barista who apparently wasn't into horsing around. "We weren't given a reason, just, "we can't take your order," said Aspen. "My friend and I were going to get frappuccinos for us and a cup of whipped cream for the horses." A Starbucks spokesperson told us, officially, their drive-through is for cars only. He said that policy is for animal, rider and employee safety. But, he also added that the horses caught the barista off guard and with a little-advanced notice next time they'll find a way to serve all creatures."We support Starbucks because they're very accepting," said Tandy Cline, Aspen's mom. "So we were kind of disappointed we got thrown to the side from such a great company."  Tandy said they would definitely be reaching back out to Starbucks to see if they can arrange a better experience for Aspen. 1297

For dog owners, it can be a helpless feeling to see their pet panic. A newly approved drug hopes to help pets left paralyzed by the sound of fireworks and other loud noises.“We have all the way from very mild to very severe cases, where dogs are going through windows and escaping through crates during noise events,” says Dr. Amy Pike, a veterinary behaviorist.Dr. Pike is excited about a new drug, which was just approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help dogs who get stressed out by loud noises.The prescription drug is called Pexion, and it's part of a growing list of medications approved by the FDA to treat pets. The drug is given to dogs two days before an expected loud event, like the Fourth of July, as well as during the event.In a study, 66 percent of owners who gave their dog the pill say they saw good or excellent results.“I think it definitely has the potential to make a huge impact for some of these noise phobic dogs,” Dr. Pike says.However, there are downsides. The most common side effects are difficulty standing or walking, increased appetite and low energy.But dog trainer Juliana Willems is optimistic about the drug.“Everything that I’ve seen has been great and totally adding to the quality of life for these animals I’m working with,” says Willems. “I'm relieved to see that people are understanding the importance of medication in the behavior modification process.”Willems says to see the best results with the new pill, dog owners should use the medication in combination with behavior training, which could help everyone at home.“Humans have such a hard time with it, and a lot of time, I do just as much human counseling as I do dog training,” says Willems. “So, once the dog is behaving better, it improves. For the first time in 78 years, the Rose Bowl will not be played in Pasadena, California.Over the weekend, it was announced that the College Football Playoff semifinal game between No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Notre Dame would be relocated from the Rose Bowl to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, due to California's ban on fans being allowed at live sporting events during the coronavirus pandemic.CFP Executive Director Bill Hancock made the announcement Saturday in a press release after the Tournament of Roses.Hancock said the committee mutually agreed to relocate the game to the Dallas Cowboys home stadium amid rising cases of COVID-19 in Southern California."We know that the decision was not an easy one to make," said David Eads, Tournament of Roses CEO and Executive Director. "While we remain confident that a game could have been played at the Rose Bowl Stadium, as evident in the other collegiate and professional games taking place in the region, the projection of COVID-19 cases in the region has continued on an upward trend."According to the press release, the State of California would not make a notable exception for player guests at the game, requesting in November and December that the state create a "special exception" to allow players' parents to attend the game. Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Brian Christopher Lawler died Sunday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.Lawler, 46, is the son of Jerry "The King" Lawler, a WWE Hall of Fame wrestler.
