Authorities have identified the body of a young boy found at a New Mexico compound as Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj, a missing 3-year-old who was allegedly abducted by his father in November, according to the state's Office of the Medical Investigator. The boy's remains were discovered a few days after authorities first raided the makeshift compound earlier this month and discovered 11 emaciated children wearing rags and no shoes.Abdul-Ghani, who would have turned 4 the day his body was discovered, had been missing since last November, when his father, 40-year-old Siraj Wahhaj, allegedly took him from his mother in Jonesboro, Georgia, and said they were going to a park. They never returned.New Mexico authorities suspected the boy and his father were at the compound after learning about the abduction in May, according to the Taos County sheriff, but didn't have enough evidence for a search warrant. 915

At 16 years old, Gabe Richards has been working hard to get good grades. He's secured straight As while being a part of the special education program at Marysville High School in Michigan. But, after getting invited to be honored at an academic awards ceremony Monday night, Gabe said he was disappointed to be told at the event that his invite was a mistake."We were really excited and don't get the chance to celebrate achievements all the time," said his mother Stefanie Grassel.Grassel said the faculty did apologize and acknowledge they mistakenly sent an invitation letter. However, as a mother, Grassel said she wants to see the policy changed to become more inclusive."It sends the message that they are less than a general education student, and that's wrong," she added.Richards also told us he feels disappointed after what happened. District superintendent Shawn Whiteman refused to do an interview in response to what happened. Instead, he issued the following statement addressing the matter:"The criteria for students to receive the distinguished “Academic Award” from Marysville High School are a GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 and that they are enrolled in a certain amount of academic-based classes. After speaking with our high school principal, it was evident that a mistake was made when identifying students for this award, due to the fact that a letter was sent home inviting a student to the ceremony who didn’t meet the full criteria. It is clear that the high school made an error in identifying students for this year’s award and we respectfully apologize for any grief this has caused.  Because of this, we will be taking corrective action so that this does not happen again in the future." 1768

Attorneys for Maria Butina and the Justice Department gave more signs Thursday morning they are negotiating a plea deal for the accused Russian spy.In a conference call with a federal judge in Washington, the attorneys said another upcoming hearing in the case should be canceled and that subpoenas planned for American University, where Butina was a graduate student, may be withdrawn by the end of this week. Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have previously indicated they were negotiating to end Butina's case.Butina was charged this summer for illegally acting as a foreign agent for Russia and accused of trying to create a back channel for Russia through activist groups, including the National Rifle Association. She is currently being held in solitary confinement at a Northern Virginia jail, her attorneys have said. So far, she has maintained her innocence, saying she was never a foreign agent and simply a foreign student studying in America. If Butina were to change her plea in the case from not guilty to guilty, she would likely return to Russia.Prosecutors previously told a court she was in touch with Russian backers and agents as she ingratiated herself with politically powerful Americans.The-CNN-Wire 1233

Astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson has denied allegations of sexual misconduct made against him by three women.Last month, three women told Patheos, a religion and spirituality website, that Tyson harassed them and made inappropriate sexual advances as early as 1984 and in recent years."Accusations can damage a reputation and a marriage. Sometimes irreversibly. I see myself as loving husband and as a public servant -- a scientist and educator who serves at the will of the public. I am grateful for the support I've received from those who continue to respect and value me and my work," he wrote in a lengthy Facebook post titled "On Being Accused."Tyson disputed or offered a different version of the allegations against him.Katelyn N. Allers, an associate professor of physics and astronomy at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, told Patheos that Tyson grabbed her arm and reached into her dress while looking at her tattoo of the solar system. She said the incident happened during a party after a gathering of the American Astronomical Society in 2009. 1081
