SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Starting this year, San Diego State University will begin restricting freshmen living on campus from parking their cars on campus.The new policy will go into effect beginning this fall, the university said Thursday. Incoming freshmen students will not be allowed to park on campus for their first year of schooling.SDSU's website says the change reflects the college's stance that the, "on-campus living experience an integral and necessary part of the total education."RELATED: SDSU details plan to avoid flooding at Mission Valley campusIn a statement to 10News, SDSU said the policy follows similar parking restrictions enacted at other California universities, including University of California, San Diego, CSU Long Beach, and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Waivers are also available for freshmen, "who may have unique needs," and "documented hardships," SDSU said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Unified School District officials confirmed to 10News Thursday that a teacher has been placed on leave while investigators look into accusations that he exposed a sixth-grade class to pornography.Officials said they were first notified Monday after a parent reported the alleged incident happened during a physical education class at Horace Mann Middle School, located at 4345 54th Street in San Diego."San Diego Unified is investigating the incident that allegedly occurred at Mann Middle School. The employee has been placed on leave pending the investigation,” district officials said.The district said it has spoken with at least 10 students regarding the report. There were at least 24 students in the class.District officials and district police are investigating."It's reprehensible," Craig Tinson, whose 12-year-old grandson attends the school, said. "Becuase the students are very impressionable. They're looking for adults to be the leader and unfortunately, it was compromised on this occasion."A parent of one of the students told 10News that her son was in the class when the teacher allegedly showed the students an adult video of a man and woman engaged in sexual activities. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — She's just 5-years-old, but Faith Perkins is now a published author.Faith and her mother Neka wrote the book 'Faith and Trinity the Unicorn', inspired by the loss of Trinity, Faith's older sister."My husband and I lost Trinity prematurely at 24 weeks in May 2012, of course, that was a devastation, it hurt us, but our faith prompted us to try again, and that's when Faith was born," said Neka. In the book, Faith travels the world with her sister Trinity, who is a unicorn. Faith explains how she and her mother wrote the book together, "What we would do is me and her would sit down, and she would tell me what it would be like if we were playing with each other and whatever I would tell her she would write down on a piece of paper."Neka and Faith hope the book will help others coping with loss. "I hope to inspire so many other individuals to talk about it, it's not easy, it's painful," said Neka.But Neka says writing the book with Faith has helped her heal and find some closure. "I can only imagine what life would have been like with her here, so this allows us to keep the hope alive," said Neka.For Faith, getting the book published is only the beginning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University's men's basketball team has returned to the top ten in the national polls for the first time in five years, reaching number seven in the AP and Coach's Polls released Monday. The Aztecs are 15-0 to start the season, making them one of just two undefeated teams remaining in Division One. The other team is Auburn. Head Coach Brian Dutcher says the team is handling the success well, refusing to be distracted. He told 10News that the growing buzz about his team is reminiscent of the program's glory years at the beginning of the decade, when rising star Kawhi Leonard led the team to conference championships and a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.RELATED: San Diego State's stadium effort gets -million donation"It makes a difference," Dutcher said.
