Amid the concerns about facial recognition technology, Axon, the largest manufacturer of police body cameras in the US, has rejected selling facial recognition technology. The decision follows a report from Axon's independent AI ethics board, which concluded that facial recognition software is not reliable enough to justify its use in body cameras.
Amazon’s general manager of artificial intelligence, Matt Wood, disputed the findings and noted that the study focuses on facial analysis technology which is different from facial recognition. Facial analysis is used to search a database of photos for specific attributes. Say, for example, an advertisement designer wanted to search a catalog of stock photos for a woman wearing glasses and smiling. That’s where facial analysis comes in.
Among the delegations, 98 come from the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries. A series of themed activities will be held during the fair, including forums on service trade cooperation.
