SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego is making Halloween “Spooktacular” this year.Starting Oct. 2, park guests can don their favorite costumes and take part in physically distanced activities such as Cookie Decorating with Cookie Monster and Elmo, Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt, and the all-new Sesame Street Halloween Dance Party.And what would a Halloween celebration be without candy? Candy will be available for all guests and be delivered through special candy chute for safe trick-or-treating.The park’s Spooktacular event will be held Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Nov. 1. As an added bonus, through Nov. 1, kids age 3-9 get into the park for free with one full-paid adult admission.Park officials said: “Annual Pass Members and Fun Card holders also receive FREE admission to Spooktacular and must make a reservation to visit the park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego’s rainy winter led to a bug-infested spring which is, in turn, giving away to a spider-filled summer. County of San Diego officials say 2019 could bring a “bumper crop” of orb weaver spiders due to an increase of its food supply. “So, you’re probably going to be running into a lot of spider webs very soon, if you haven’t already,” said County supervising vector ecologist Chris Conlan. Conlan has a term for what happens after a person walks into a web: the crazy spider dance. Orb weaver spiders, which include any spider that weaves a web, are usually not harmful to people, according to Conlan. They generally don’t bite unless they’re threatened. “A well-fed female can be a pretty imposing spider,” Conlan said to County News Center. “But they’re generally nothing to be worried about. In all honesty, if you run into their web, their general reaction is to bail off quick. They don’t like to hang around once something that’s big enough to smash through their web hits it. They know it’s not anything they want to tackle and wrap up to eat.” Conlan recommends avoiding walking through areas spiders can use as anchor points. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Several US Navy Sailors put on their uniforms on their days off to help deliver meals to San Diego-area military veterans. Meals on Wheels President Debbie Case said they deliver 500,000 meals every year and about 42 percent of those meals go to veterans.“To see the active duty and the respect that they have for these veterans is incredible,” said Case.Meals on Wheels makes 1,400 deliveries every day. That means more than 500 are for veterans.Case added they also started delivering to disabled veterans no matter how old they are or when they ended their service. 610
