SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric has released a list and map of areas that may be affected by planned power outages amid Santa Ana winds. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from noon Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday for the inland valleys and mountains. East to northeast winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour and isolated gusts as high as 60 miles per hour. To make matters worse, humidity is expected to range between 5 and 10 percent with poor overnight recovery. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Monday a larger investment into a program creating job opportunities for the homeless. Wheels of Change was launched in 2018 as a public-private partnership providing jobs and training for those living in the Alpha Project bridge shelter. “It’s innovative, it’s unique. It’s working it’s growing and it’s making a difference in people’s lives,” said Faulconer. The program is expanding from three to ten shifts per week, with participants earning per hour as they remove litter and debris through the Clean SD initiativee. An additional van is also being provided to transport the 20 workers. The City of San Diego doubled its investment to 0,000 this fiscal year. Additional financial support was provided by the Lucky Duck Foundation and other donors. 829

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego has unveiled its first new trolley station in over a decade as city leaders gathered to celebrate Friday.The Courthouse Station is located at the south side of C Street between State and Union streets.The station will replace the American Plaza station as the new endpoint to Metropolitan Transit System’s Orange Line.The first new station since 2005 began to serve passengers Sunday. Aside from being located outside the city’s new 22-story courthouse, the station is located within close access to 44,500 jobs.Construction of the new station began in August. 598

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego health officials are worried about a recent uptick in out-of-towners testing positive for coronavirus locally ahead of the holiday weekend.In San Diego, health officials have seen increases in positive COVID-19 cases diagnosed locally in people who live in nearby counties or states. Throughout the pandemic, there have been 16 Arizona residents have tested positive while in the region, seven of those were in the last week. So far, 330 Imperial County residents have tested positive while in San Diego and 61 of those were in the last week, as cases grow in that county.RELATED: San Diego County to close bars that don't serve food to slow COVID-19 spread"We have looked specifically at nearby county residents. Certainly, the number of individuals who live in Imperial County who are diagnosed in San Diego have increased in the last number of weeks," said Dr. Eric McDonald, director of the county’s epidemiology and immunization department.
