SAN DIEGO (CNS) - CVS Health announced Thursday it is expanding its COVID- 19 no-cost testing program by adding 35 more test sites at select CVS Pharmacy drive-thrus across California, including three locations in San Diego County, amid a surge in new coronavirus cases.The opening of additional test sites on Friday adds to the 107 locations previously opened statewide, including 14 in San Diego County.The nearly 200 additional test sites opening across the country this week are among the more than 1,400 locations CVS Health has opened since May and expand the company's testing capacity to more than 1.5 million tests per month, subject to availability of supplies and lab capacity, according to President and CEO Larry J. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - As his trial entered its eighth week, a man who shot at officers from his ex-girlfriend's condominium in Bankers Hill pleaded guilty to four counts of assault with a firearm on a peace officer and agreed to a 20-year prison sentence, it was confirmed Thursday.Titus Colbert, 36, faces formal sentencing May 18 before Judge Louis Hanoian.Deputy District Attorney Michael Runyon was about to wrap up his case when Colbert decided to plead guilty Monday afternoon.Charges of premeditated attempted murder of a peace officer and assault with a semiautomatic weapon were dismissed.RELATED: Suspect in Bankers Hill standoff that shut down Lindbergh Field in courtRunyon said in his opening statement that Colbert took two rifles and a revolver belonging to his roommate in Las Vegas and showed up at his former girlfriend's condo in Bankers Hill a few days before his Nov. 4, 2015, arrest.According to Runyon, the morning of the shooting, Colbert's ex- girlfriend Ashley Davies realized that he'd had broken into her complex and sent him a text saying: "You're trespassing! You're going to jail!"Colbert responded by texting, "(Expletive), I'm going to be a star. (Expletive) you for putting my life in danger," the prosecutor said.When officers responded to Davies' sixth-floor condo near the roof of the complex, a shot rang out from behind her door and an officer returned fire, according to Runyon.The prosecutor said officers retreated and more shots were fired at them and members of a SWAT team.Hours later, police observed a rifle, revolver and a magazine for a rifle being thrown out of the window where Colbert was holed up, Runyon said.After Colbert's arrest, officers found 17 expended casings and another rifle under a pile of clothes in the room, the prosecutor said.Even though traces of cocaine and methamphetamine were found in Colbert's system, and even though he had a history of mental health issues, the defendant knew what he was doing that day, Runyon said.Defense attorney Melissa Tralla told the jury that Colbert had a psychotic break and was paranoid and delusional. She said that days before, Colbert had called Davies at least 50 times and was not acting right.Colbert was rambling, saying he had special powers and was part of the New World Order, Tralla said.The attorney said Colbert was showing signs of mental illness by age 6, and was diagnosed with schizophrenia by age 15. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was fatally shot just outside his family's home in the Paradise Hills community of San Diego, a police lieutenant said Saturday.The shooting occurred around 10:35 p.m. Friday outside a home in the 2400 block of Calle Gaviota, said Lt. Anthony Dupree of the San Diego Police Department. Dupree said the shooting victim's family reported to police that the man went outside the home, and a short time later, relatives heard gunshots.Family members went outside and saw the victim down. A witness reported seeing a man wearing dark clothing running from the area after the shots were heard, Dupree said.Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, he said.The San Diego Police Department asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting to call them at 619-531-2293. 827

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Thursday a dozen San Diego Public Libraries would reopen for the first time since mid-March, when they were shuttered as part of a state-wide shutdown order."Our libraries offer San Diegans a treasure trove of resources, whether its access to health information, distance learning, job searching or even just a book to pass the time, and we need them now more than ever," Faulconer said. "We're reopening our libraries with health and safety as the top priority while also expanding digital access to give residents more opportunities as we get through this pandemic together."The library locations to resume in-person services include Central, Carmel Valley, Point Loma, Mission Valley, Rancho Bernardo, Malcolm X/Valencia Park, Mira Mesa, Logan Heights, San Ysidro, La Jolla, Mission Hills-Hillcrest and College-Rolando.The libraries will open at 25% capacity starting Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The facilities will close for cleaning from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. daily and frequently touched areas will be cleaned hourly and after each usage. Everyone will be required to wear face coverings, have their temperature taken and practice physical distancing when possible."Our libraries have been closed since March 13 and, although we have added pickup service and virtual programming, there is no substitute for welcoming patrons into our buildings," said Library Director Misty Jones. "While we are offering limited services when we reopen, our staff will be working diligently to expand services as quickly and safely as possible."According to the library, in order to protect the health and safety of staff and guests some services may be limited or modified by staff, including time limits for computer use. According to city data, an estimated 53,000 San Diegans lack access to reliable internet, a resource that has proven vital for distance learning, employment opportunities and access to public health information.The program creates patio areas at select library locations to offer free WiFi and plastic-coated laptop computers for public use in a physically distanced setting. Capacity and cleaning requirements for the in-person reopening will also apply to all SD Access4All locations.While additional locations are currently being retrofitted for this program, these services are currently offered at the Central, San Ysidro, Skyline Hills and Malcolm X/Valencia Park branches.In May, under the first reopening phase, city libraries began a contact-free pickup service at some library locations. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A robbery at a Tierrasanta credit union branch led to one arrest, police said Friday.A man entered a Navy Federal Credit Union branch in the 10600 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard at 1:26 p.m. and presented the teller with a demand note, San Diego Police Officer Sarah Foster said.The teller complied with the suspect's demands and gave him an undetermined amount of money.Officers headed to the scene and, after a search, were able to find and detain the suspect, a 57-year-old man, on Porto Court in a nearby residential neighborhood, according to San Diego Police Sgt. Michael Stirk.The suspect was taken into custody while police investigated, according to Stirk. 691
