SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego security experts advise vigilance in the wake of the U.S. attack on Iran General Qassem Suleimani.Former Marine Pilot Ed Rush says Iran's options are limited when it comes to retaliation - but its two options appear to be a cyber attack or a terrorist attack. "We've protected ourselves pretty well at home here from terror," Rush said, noting he expects any attack to be abroad on a U.S. interest or embassy. San Diego Police say they have received no credible threat and have not increased patrols. He noted San Diego is home to major military bases and is a magnet for tourism. Winn said visitors to attractions can expect more screeners when they go inside. "Let's say somebody shows up in our kind of weather with a very heavy topcoat on or something like that - that's always an example used - why are you wearing a topcoat coming into the safari park and it's 75 degrees outside?" Winn also noted a wide range of agencies run frequent drills to prepare for any attack. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to send a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom requesting more reopening guidance, after hitting pause on reopening businesses last week due to community outbreaks.With Supervisor Nathan Fletcher as the only dissenting vote, the board voted to send a letter requesting state guidance on reopening wedding receptions, hotel meetings and conferences, street fairs, playgrounds, and team competitions.They heard from dozens of people pleading with them to help save their industries. "Our industry is struggling to survive. There are people still wanting to celebrate these events which is leading to bootleg events," said one caller who works in the event industry.Another woman called in to share the challenges of trying to plan a wedding." I've had to push my wedding back twice this year and have lost thousands of dollars due to the uncertainty of when private events will be allowed," said Rachel Lee. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego State University resumed some in-person classes Monday, allowing several thousand students to come back to campus.Monday was the first time students were allowed at school since in-person classes were suspended in September due to the rising number of reported positive COVID-19 cases, both on and off campus.SDSU fine arts graduate student Naomi Chicoine has been taking classes almost entirely online this semester because of the outbreaks on and off campus.She said, "The hardest part is not knowing what's going to happen next. Are we going to be able to stay on campus or not?”The school has nearly 1,200 cases since school started in late August. At one point, the case numbers were high enough to put San Diego County at risk of being knocked out of the state of California’s red tier and into the stricter purple tier.Students are now being asked to do self-assessments and stay home if they're feeling sick.Before they go into a class, students get their temperature checked at one of two kiosks on campus. A device scans their temperature, then displays green or red, indicating if they are fever-free.Students get a wristband if they're cleared, which is date-stamped, and it allows them to go to class. The process takes less than a minute and saves professors from having to scan students themselves.Everyone coming onto campus for class -- students and staff -- is also required to get tested at least every 14 days.The school is also promising to strictly enforce mask and social distancing compliance. Classes are limited to mostly those required by students for graduation, around 3,000 students per week who will come to campus.The California State University system has also expanded SDSU's ability to enforce policies. They say they're issuing citations to students and staff who don't comply with the rules.Students could also face additional consequences, such as suspension or expulsion, according to a letter from the university president. 2000

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego restaurants are taking extra precautions, and going out of their way to care for the most vulnerable neighbors during the stay at home order.Victor Lopez, owner of El Pollo Grill, said he's delivering free meals to seniors in need. "Today we're actually going to send 10 more right now," Lopez said. They've served about 90 customers in three days. When it comes to the bill, he's paying about 70 percent and donations are covering the rest.LISTINGS: Who is open for business in San Diego during stay-at-home order"We have the food, we have the resources, we have a little money left over so we're willing to take the hit," Lopez said. The hit right now is 30 percent, but Lopez said the 37 year old business is focused on community. Across town, D.Z. Akin's is also worried about their customers, "we try between every customer to sanitize ourselves, sanitize the pens, sanitize the counters." Son of the founders, Elan Akin, said he often sees an older crowd.Customers, like Philip McCabe, say they normally see more people. The lunch rush Wednesday mean about 7 people standing in the deli with lots of space in between.
