BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Zhou Yongkang on Tuesday concluded a visit to India that helped promote development of mutual trust and bilateral cooperation between the two Asian nations.Zhou, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and also secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, met Monday with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi, India's capital.During the meeting, Zhou said strengthening political mutual trust with India was the key to deeper cooperation with the country and that the leaders of the two countries should often exchange views in great depth and with great frankness on major issues of mutual concern.Zhou said China and India had a combined population of 2.5 billion and there existed a great space for developing cooperation in the economy and trade, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.He said both China and India faced the heavy task of developing their own economy, improving people's living standards and safeguarding social stability.Zhou said, while China was making its 12th five-year plan for socioeconomic development in the 2011-2015 period and India making its 11th five-year plan, China wished to increase political trust with India, expand cooperation of mutual benefit, and deepen the strategic cooperative partnership with India.Prime Minister Singh said the friendly relations between India and China played an extremely important role in promoting peace, stability and development in Asia and even in the whole world.Zhou also met on Monday with ruling Indian National Congress party President Sonia Gandhi and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.During the meeting, Zhou said the development of China and India provided opportunities rather than posed challenges to each other.Both China and India believed the world was big enough to accommodate the common development of China and India, Zhou said, adding the Chinese side was happy for every achievement that India made in its development.As for the China-India trade, which is expected to reach 60 billion U.S. dollars this year, Zhou said there was still great potential for the two big emerging powers to tap.He hoped both sides could deepen the strategic cooperative partnership further, strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, and increase personnel exchanges at different levels.Sonia Gandhi said India had always paid great attention to China's development and welcomed the improvement in the living standard of the Chinese people.She said India's and China's development had speeded up the recovery of the world economy in the face of the international financial crisis and she hoped both sides could strengthen coordination and cooperation further and tackle various global issues in a better way and maintain the favorable momentum of development.Zhou also met with Indian Minister of External Affairs S. TIANJIN, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- China has become Volvo's third largest market, with more of its car models to go on sale in the world's largest auto market this year, Chief Executive Office (CEO) of Volvo Cars China said in Tianjin.Dr. Alexander Klose, CEO of Volvo Cars China, told Xinhua at the Ninth Tianjin International Automobile Trade Show, being held from Friday to Wednesday.Klose said Volvo Cars had entered a new era of fast development, adding that its sales in China roared in 2010.As of the end of September, Volvo's global sales volume was up 12.5 percent year on year, compared with 52 percent year-on-year rise in China, he said.Volvo also aggressively expanded its dealer network to 98 outlets in 81 Chinese cities this year.Two new Volvo sales centers opened in Beijing within merely one week in early October, about two months after east China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. acquired the Swedish brand from the U.S. auto giant Ford for 1.5 billion U.S. dollars in early August.Dr. Klose said he was confident of seeing tremendous growth in China's auto market in the next five years."As the Chinese government has increased the tax rate for large displacement cars already, we now have a lot of cars below three liters, and I think we'll stick to that strategy, as you can see now the XC60 which was introduced today is just two liters," he said."As the technology advances, we'll probably even see 1.6 liter engines or 1.5 liter engines in the future," he added.Volvo Cars is not the only automaker hoping to take advantage of China's rapidly growing auto market.Bentley, the famous British luxury carmaker, will open a new sales center in China at Tianjin next Thursday, which is the 11th one in China, according to a press release by Shanghai-based Zenith Integrated Communications Corp. BERLIN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- China and Germany pledged on Tuesday to enhance their efforts in coordinating macroeconomic policies and opposing trade and investment protectionism, according to a joint communique issued after a meeting between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his German counterpart Angela Merkel.The meeting, focusing on China's relations with Germany and Europe, was held at the Meseberg Palace, 70 km north of Germany's capital of Berlin, on the eve of the 13th China-European Union (EU) summit in Brussels.China and Germany are two of the world's largest exporters. China surpassed Germany last year to become the number one exporter.The communique said both sides agreed to attach importance to a series of dialogue mechanisms, including the strategic dialogue, the dialogue between nations ruled by law and human rights dialogue.China and Germany also agreed to expand political mutual trust and deepen strategic coordination between China and Europe. The two countries would like to promote Sino-European economic ties by enhancing negotiation and amplifying cooperation of mutual benefit.Germany would continue urging the EU to recognize China's full market economy status as soon as possible.
