Wisconsin voters are heading to the polls on Tuesday for primary elections, and Democrat voters will select from a crowded ballot of gubernatorial candidates.A total of 10 candidates are on the Democratic primary ballot — but one of them is telling voters to skip his name."I could never imagine that I would be asking people not to vote for me," candidate Andy Gronik said.Gronik withdrew from the race last month, but not before ballots were printed. "I've already received some emails from people who have voted for me, and they were disappointed to learn I wasn't in the race," Gronik said.Dana Wachs is also still on the ballot, in the last spot, but he's also withdrawn as well. There are eight other candidates that hope to go up against Gov. Scott Walker in November: Matt Flynn, Tony Evers, Josh Pade, Mike McCabe, Paul Soglin, Kathleen Vinehout, Mahlon Mitchell and Kelda Roys. Some Wisconsinites did not even know who was running."What I had in mind is to Google it tonight for a little bit of information before I go vote tomorrow," Walker's Point voter Simon Rodrigeuz said. Others said it was hard to narrow it down."There was definitely a lot to pick from. A lot of them are good too," Lisa Vulpas saidThat's why candidates are using every second before the election. Roys went to Milwaukee Public Market this Monday afternoon as a last push before the polls opened on Tuesday."We have been communicating with voters more and for longer periods. We have been on TV for almost a month," Roys said.Mitchell rallied his volunteer door knockers in Milwaukee Monday evening."What distinguishes us is, yes we are running a statewide campaign, but we are running it like we are running a local election. And that is to get out and talk to people," Mitchell said.  1822

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Authorities say a retired firefighter who was upset with a mask ordinance in the city of Wichita, Kansas, has been arrested on suspicion of threatening to kidnap and kill the mayor. The Wichita Eagle reports that police say the 59-year-old suspect could face a charge of criminal threat.Democratic Mayor Brandon Whipple said someone had read him text messages received by another city official that asked about the mayor’s address and threatened his life.Whipple says the suspect talked about tyranny in the messages and was upset about the mask mandates and not being able to see his mother because of coronavirus restrictions.“He said he was going to kidnap me and slash my throat and he needed my address because I needed to see the hangman — me and everyone who, something about tyranny,” said Whipple. The Eagle reports that the mayor has been an online target of anti-mask activists after he pushed for a citywide mask requirement to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.Whipple says he will now have an increased security presence around his home to protect him and his family. The Wichita Police Department told The Eagle that it’s investigating the threats and that no other local officials are believed to have been targeted at this time. This incident comes after law enforcement arrested several men who authorities say plotted to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer at her vacation home. Federal agents ended up foiling that plot and are charging the “violent extremists.” 1515

When you mix sugar, spice, and everything nice, you get "The Powerpuff Girls." But this time, it's a live-action version.According to Variety, Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup are getting back together for a remake. When traveling to many places, it’s required to quarantine or get tested for COVID-19 before and after you arrive.Starting Thursday, Iceland is going to let visitors skip all of that if they prove they've had COVID-19 and recovered. But for now, travel from the U.S. to the country still isn't allowed. So, are these so-called immunity passports a good idea?Dr. Ania Wajnberg at Mount Sinai has been studying COVID-19 antibodies since March. Her team has tested more than 80,000 people in the New York area, and they’ve found the majority of people who had COVID-19 form moderate or high levels of antibodies.“Since March and April, almost everybody has maintained their level of antibodies. We do see a slight decrease, but overall, they've maintained their antibody levels,” said Wajnberg. But it's not entirely clear how long immunity does last and how good the protection against COVID-19 is.Wajnberg says we also don't have a lot of data on whether people who have antibodies could still possibly carry enough of the virus that they could spread it.The World Health Organization has advised against immunity passports. It says there's not enough evidence of immunity from antibodies alone.“I think given that we know that many or most people likely have some protection, this is not an unreasonable way to begin to open up society in a safer way than just throwing open the doors and hoping for the best,” said Wajnberg.Iceland's chief epidemiologist says he doesn't think it's fair to people who've had COVID-19, that they shouldn't be allowed to travel freely afterward.Critics of immunity passports warn they could potentially reward reckless people who become infected after ignoring COVID-19 rules or take away more of our medical privacy. 1755

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Two specially modified shotguns and ammunition were stolen from Palm Beach Zoo in the hours between late Wednesday and early Thursday.Head of Communications & Public Relations for Palm Beach Zoo, Naki Carter, says someone broke into the zoo and pried open a gun safe that stored the weapons. The shotguns were used by the zoo's "critical response team" in cases of emergency. The zoo is offering a ,000 reward for the return of the weapons. When asked if this was thought to be an "inside job", Carter had no comment. If the perpetrator(s) is caught with the weapons, which require a federal permit, they could face 10 years in prison and a fine.Carter says Palm Beach Zoo has increased security measures since the theft, but will not go into detail as to what those measures entail. 828
