EL CAJON, CA (KGTV) -- Before the COVID-19 pandemic, many low-income seniors would make weekly visits to their local clinic for treatment. But now times have changed, and so has the way they see their doctor. St. Paul's PACE in El Cajon has made a major adjustment in providing care for their elderly patients. They are now ofering what you might call a clinic on four wheels. "They used to come to the clinic for services, which some still do. But because of self isolation, and the fear of being in a crowded place, we have found a way to take care of them in a different manner," says St. Paul's PACE Medical Director Dr. Victor LeeAnd their new way of helping patients is what they are calling a roving clinic. It's basically the comforts of a doctors office, all inside a van"Our staff came up with some creative ways, and one of the ways was to create and convert a van into a clinic. So we can go to their homes to take care of them."The van is considered a safe place for patients who do not feel comfortable seeking treatment at home, or at the clinic."Doctors can examine them, and nurses can do their vital signs Whatever we can do in the clinic we try and replicate inside the van."There are currently close to 1,000 patients in the St. Paul's PACE program, many of whom Dr. Lee describes as frail with multiple medical problems. So the roving clinic has been a life saver. "They love it. We go to their place, we park outside their apartment, or even in a parking lot. Somewhere where there is privacy, we take care of them right there." 1563

(KGTV) — One person is dead after their vehicle became airborne and crashed, sending metal and pieces of the vehicle across the roadway.California Highway Patrol troopers tried to stop the vehicle on eastbound Interstate 8 at about 2 a.m. Saturday before the driver sped off.Troopers pursued the vehicle, which began picking up speed as it left the highway, CHP said.At one point, witnesses told 10News the vehicle hit a dip on Main St. near Jamacha Rd. at a high speed and became airborne. The driver lost control of the car and crashed, colliding with a tree and wall along the road.The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not immediately identified.The crash sent pieces of the vehicle flying in all directions including the car's engine block, which was dislodged and found across the road.TRAFFIC: Live traffic conditions around San Diego"Seemed like just 30 minutes of just crashing and metal everywhere," one witness said. "Just a horrific sound. Dozens of people are gathering outside of the TCF Center in Downtown Detroit, trying to get inside to challenge votes which are being counted.People outside of the center say they are not being let in to challenge the votes. The Detroit Health Department said TCF Center is at capacity and that's what police are enforcing.Republicans are hoping to challenge the vote and claimed they were unfairly being kept outside where the absentee ballots are being counted. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top expert on infectious diseases, said Tuesday that he believes that it's "unlikely" that a viable COVID-19 vaccine will be available before the Nov. 3 general election.Fauci's comments contradict those of President Donald Trump, who implied Monday that a vaccine could be ready by October.During a health forum with Research!America, Fauci said that while it's not impossible for a vaccine to be safely granted Emergency Use Authorization within the next two months, he doesn't think one will be made available until the end of the year.Fauci noted that there are three vaccine candidates currently in the midst of the final phase of testing. Two of those candidates — vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer — both became the first vaccines to begin Phase 3 testing on July 27.Fauci also noted that both trials are about two-thirds of the way enrolled, and expects those trials to be completely filled by the end of the month. DoorDash customers can now order groceries through its app.The company announced that they have partnered up with several grocery stores in select cities across the country to limit people's trip to stores due to COVID-19.Customers will be able to purchase from stores like Smart & Final, Meijer, and Fresh Thyme.In the coming weeks, the company will partner up with Hy-Vee and Gristedes/D'agostino."DoorDash provides another convenient way for customers to get the value, selection, and quality that Smart & Final offers, especially at a time when some are looking to limit trips outside their homes," said Navin Cotton, Director of Digital Commerce, Smart & Final in the press release.
