LOUISVILLE, Colo. – A woman in Louisville, Colordao died after she was struck by a falling tree branch during Tuesday’s windstorm, a spokesperson for the police department said Wednesday, making her death the first in the state caused by the near-hurricane winds.The woman, who has not been identified, stopped to rest under a tree while she was moving into an apartment in the area of Walnut Street and Garfield Avenue at around 2 p.m.The spokesperson said that’s when a large branch broke off due to the winds and struck her in the head.She was taken to a hospital, but it’s not clear when the woman died as the police department only learned of her passing on Wednesday.The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy, but even though foul play is not suspected, detectives will be in attendance.The Boulder Daily Camera reports there were 89 mph wind gusts in Louisville, the highest recorded in Boulder County on Tuesday. 962

Mental health experts are concerned that people who are unemployed amid the COVID-19 pandemic may be experiencing more mental health issues.Art Goldsmith, a professor of economics at Washinton and Lee University, says that some people who don't have a financial buffer — particularly minorities or people who have young kids — might become more emotionally distressed by losing their job.Unemployed people are normally optimistic at first. But after five or six weeks, feelings of hopelessness or anxiety increase."That's when I would say the psychological distress really arise, and poor emotional well-being starts to become a footprint of that bout of unemployment," Goldsmith siad.According to Maria Heidkamp, the director of the New Start Career Network at Rutgers University, that's concerning because the number of people who have been unemployed long-term has ballooned during the pandemic. She says that combing the stress of the health emergency with the pressure of being unemployed compounds an already difficult process."Your self-esteem can take a beating if you apply for jobs and get a series of rejections, and you don't know why. Or maybe you don't hear anything." Heidkamp said. "Even pre-pandemic, we know how stressful it is. "Heidkamp says that unemployed people should break up their job search and related goals into small, manageable steps. Men tend to be more cautious about how much they share.They'll also only ask to do something together so many times before the invitation is returned.“We're just not socialized to feel comfortable. We don't want to seem like we are stalking another guy for a friendship. MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — An alligator crossing a road in Manatee County led to a deadly crash on Thursday night, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says.According to an FHP press release, an alligator crossing State Road 70 walked into the path of a car at around 10:40 p.m. local time. The driver tried to swerve out of the way and lost control, authorities said.Troopers say the car ran off the road, into a ditch full of water, and then crashed into a tree.
