(KGTV) — Tourists tossing coins into Walt Disney World's fountains this year went toward fulfilling the wishes of hundreds of homeless individuals in Florida.The theme park donated ,000 in wishing well coins found in the park's fountains to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The coins went toward making the coalition's meal for the coalition's nearly 650 residents.The group provides housing, emergency services, and diversion for local homeless men, women, and children in Central Florida."Every year, thousands of guests toss coins into fountains at our Resort and make a wish, and this year the funds collected from those fountains are being given to the Coalition to help make their annual Thanksgiving meal service possible," according to Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort.According to the Associated Press, the feast required seven kitchens, 250 pounds of turkey, 60 gallons of gravy and cranberry compote, 300 pounds of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans, 800 dinner rolls, and 72 apple and pumpkin pies.Walt Disney World also donated hundreds of to-go containers for the meal. 1175

(KGTV) -  The safety driver behind the wheel of an autonomous Uber vehicle that struck and killed a woman in Arizona is a convicted felon, according to ABC affiliate KABC.The driver, identified as 44-year-old Rafael Vasquez, was in the self-driving car when it fatally hit 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg as she crossed an unlit Tempe, Ariz., roadway outside of a crosswalk with her bicycle.Court documents showed someone with the same name and birthdate served more than four years for two felony convictions: One for making false statement when obtaining unemployment benefits and the other for armed robbery, according to KABC.RELATED: Police release video after Uber self-driving car hits, kills womanWhile the crash has raised concerns over Uber's driver screening policy, the company states "everyone deserves a fair chance" in regards to employing those with a criminal record.Uber said Vasquez met the company's hiring requirements, KABC reported. A 15-year-old boy from Virginia earned a free cruise thanks to his Snapchat account handle.Darian Lipscomb of Prospect, Virginia, received a request from Carnival Cruise Lines to trade his Snapchat username (@CarnivalCruise) for a free trip, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.The company showed up at his home to convince him.“I answered the door, walked outside and saw my name on a big truck. I was really surprised,” he said.Lipscomb said he chose the username in 2012 (he was 9 years old at the time) to share snaps from his cruise experiences.“When I was 9 years old, I went on a cruise and got really excited and wanted to share it with my friends,” he said.Carnival sought out the name because it’s their brand name. The cruise line began an entire campaign to woo Lipscomb. They sent signs to Lipscomb's hometown to draw the teen's attention, including one on which Carnival Cruise’s new “chief fun officer” Shaquille O’Neal asked if anyone knew about Lipscomb, Fox News reported.The company showed up at Lipscomb’s home on Tuesday night and offered his family a free trip on their newest ship if he traded them his Snapchat name.He accepted the deal.
