BONITA (KGTV) - A Bonita man is seeking the public's help to find the people responsible for ransacking his family home last Tuesday night.Michael Currier grew up on San Miguel Road in Bonita and once you understand his family's history it's easy to see why this home means so much.A couple doors down is where his mother and uncles were raised, at grandpa's house. His mother stayed close to care for grandma who had Alzheimer's and when the house went on the market, Currier and his wife pulled together what they could to keep it in the family. They bought the home in 2013 and have been renovating. He and his wife are now taking care of his mother, who also has Alzheimer's, so they weren't home last Tuesday night.Currier came home Wednesday and found it barren. All the construction tools in each room, gone. Incredibly rare parts he was using to build specialty motorcycles, gone too. Shelves full of black bins barren, with dust outlining where they sat for years."The parts that were stolen are irreplaceable. Those motorcycles, I'll never be able to work on again," Currier said.Currier worked as a contractor to pay for nursing school, and collected tools since he was 15. While he's glad no one was hurt from the break-in, what he lost was more than items on a list."Definitely makes you feel a little uncomfortable in your own house in your own neighborhood which is frustrating especially when you grew up in this area and this has always been a home, a safe place," he said.He filed a report with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and they are looking into the incident. In the meantime, Currier's resorted to hanging signs, with a reward for information, around the neighborhood. 1726

BARABOO, Wis. -- The 10-year-old Baraboo girl who was the subject of a statewide AMBER Alert has been found dead, police say.According to police, Kodie B. Dutcher's body was found around 11 a.m. Tuesday near 11th St. and Taft Ave. in Baraboo. Lt. Ryan Labroscian said a death investigation to determine what happened is now underway, according to our sister station Channel 3000 in Madison. An AMBER Alert had been issued for Kodie Monday night after she was last seen Monday afternoon. Officials said information obtained from the initial search of her home on Monday suggested Kodie had threatened self-harm.Groups of volunteers had gathered in Baraboo Tuesday morning to search for Kodie.Labroscian told Channel 3000 the sad update should remind everyone of the importance of mental health.“I would hope we find ways to, we as in everyone in the state of Wisconsin and our nation, try to find whatever we can to fund more mental health assistance … to help with these sorts of things before they happen,” he said.Report a typo or error // Submit a news tip 1066

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore on Wednesday filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration alleging that "unlawful" efforts altering a State Department policy are restricting visa applicants and deterring law-abiding immigrants from claiming public assistance. In its lawsuit, Baltimore asserts the U.S. State Department earlier this year quietly expanded its definition of "public charge" — someone the United States deems likely to be primarily dependent on government aid. It says the change is not only frightening legally entitled immigrants from applying for public programs but impeding otherwise eligible immigrants from entering the country in the first place. The lawsuit says the changes allow consular officers to consider whether green card applicants or their relatives, including U.S. citizens, ever benefited from non-cash benefits such as housing vouchers, subsidized school lunches or free vaccinations. Federal law has long required those seeking green cards to prove they won't be a burden — or a "public charge" — but new rules detail a broad range of public programs that could disqualify them.Maryland's biggest city asserts that immigrants are already fearful of using government programs that they or their families need. It notes that African immigrants' participation in the federal Head Start program has "virtually ceased" in Baltimore so far this school year.Mayor Catherine Pugh said her city is "known for embracing immigrants" and said the Trump administration's creation of "additional obstacles to those seeking to live in Baltimore" is un-American and a perversion of national ideals."We are determined to resist this latest attempt to deprive our immigrant communities of basic services," Pugh said in Baltimore, which is among the U.S. cities that have been trying to reverse population loss with various immigrant-friendly measures. The State Department did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment about Baltimore's lawsuit, which calls for the policy change to be declared unconstitutional and for the public charge provision to return to the old definition.Baltimore's lawsuit, filed in Maryland's U.S. District Court, was done in collaboration with the Democracy Forward Foundation, a group with Democratic party ties.Anne Harkavy, the Washington-based organization's director, portrays the State Department's public charge policy as "yet another example of the Trump administration's disturbing hostility toward people born in other countries and their families."Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security wants to redefine a "public charge" as someone who is likely to receive public benefits at any time. And the definition has been broadened to include SNAP or food assistance, Medicaid, housing assistance or subsidies for Medicare Part D. Refugees or asylum seekers would be exempt. That proposal published on Homeland Security's website has already appeared in the Federal Register and has triggered a 60-day public comment period before taking effect. The period for comments closes next month. In general, immigrants are a small portion of those receiving public aid. The Trump administration's immigration restrictions are part of a push to move the U.S. to a system that focuses on immigrants' skills instead of emphasizing the reunification of families. 3337

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced Tuesday that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.Bolsonaro made the announcement in a televised address.“I’m well, normal. I even want to take a walk around here, but I can’t due to medical recommendations,” Bolsonaro said, according to The Associated Press. “I thought I had it before, given my very dynamic activity. I’m president and on the combat lines. I like to be in the middle of the people.”Bolsonaro has repeatedly trivialized the pandemic since it reached Brazil. He's often photographed without a mask in crowds and shaking hands with government officials and supporters.Bolsonaro wore a mask during Tuesday's address.During his speech, he encouraged Brazilians to continue living their lives normally, saying that the country needed to get its "economy in gear."The country has more than 1.6 million confirmed cases of the virus — the second-most in the world, behind the U.S. — and more than 65,000 deaths linked to the disease. 1002

Bob Seger fans are still dealing with the fallout from his Fall 2017 tour. The heartland rocker wasn't able to perform for medical reasons; a big disappointment for Arizona fan Monica Harty."One of those concerts you wanna see before you die--this was one of them," she says. But after months of waiting for the show to be rescheduled, she decided to ask StubHub for her money back."They said 'well we have a placeholder date,'" Harty says.  But that date was well over a year away and with 6 on the line, Harty was not willing to wait.  Didn't matter. She says she was told, "It still shows in our system that a concert is coming and we don't have to refund.""I said well that doesn't seem exactly right."But it was. Because Seger's shows were postponed---not canceled. Which makes a big difference in the world of ticket selling.  StubHub--where Monica bought hers--has a no refund policy for: "postponed events, partial performances, line-up changes, or venue, date, or time changes."What if she couldn't be there on some random future date? She even filed a dispute with her credit card company. It was denied.Yep, Bob Seger himself would have to officially cancel the concert for Harty to see that money again. The other option?"Well you can go ahead and resell the tickets that you have on our site," she says. "How do I sell something that doesn't exist?"None of it made sense to Harty so she let me know.A spokesperson for StubHub said: Postponed events "typically are re-scheduled quickly. We are always happy to take the customer inquiries and respond to them 1:1 for this show, or any future events."In this case, after seven months of waiting StubHub agreed to refund Harty's money after our inquiry."I feel better," she says but says it doesn't take the place of seeing Seger in concert.Cancellations often trigger an automatic refund. With postponements, you're likely going to have to work for it.  Find out the policies before you buy and decide if it's worth the risk. 2016
