Domino's Pizza announced on Monday that it is partnering with robotics company Nuro to create a pizza delivery vehicle that is autonomous. The unmaned vehicle known as R2 will begin delivering pizzas later this year as part of a test. Domino's said it is rolling out the technology at select locations in the Houston area. Customers in the select areas will be given the option of having their pizza delivered by R2. They will then be given a pin to unlock the pizza from a compartment. Customers can also track the location of the R2 using Domino's smartphone app. "We are always looking for new ways to innovate and evolve the delivery experience for our customers," said Kevin Vasconi, Domino's executive vice president and chief information officer. "Nuro's vehicles are specially designed to optimize the food delivery experience, which makes them a valuable partner in our autonomous vehicle journey. With rigging it allows animators to move characters’ body parts more freely and make them more realistic.Another part of the pipeline is simulation. “In ‘Brave,’ Merida’s hair took a lot of work in order to make it look realistic, having it looking springy but not so unrealistic that it did weird things when they animated it.”Lighting is also a big part. It creates mood and determines day or night. However, in the movie “Finding Nemo,” different lighting colors like yellow were used to make the fish appear to be swimming closer to the surface. Using dark blue makes it look like deep water.Then, there is rendering. Dangalabba, a nearly 14-foot Estuarine Crocodile, has now made its home at the Perth Zoo in Australia after being rescued after officials feared for the crocodile's safety. Dangalabba was rescued from a crocodile farm in Broome, Australia, which is clear 1,400 miles from Perth. Dangalabba then made the journey to the Perth Zoo in a climate-controlled truck. "Dangalabba’s move to Perth was no small feat," the Zoo said. "It was planned to precision and involved a climate-controlled truck to keep the crocodile as happy and comfortable as possible, whilst a roster of truck drivers drove continuously so we could complete the 2000km+ journey quickly and safely."On Thursday, Dangalabba jumped into his pool, which is kept at 80 degrees.
