(KGTV) -- A smartphone tool aimed at alerting Californians on potential exposure to the coronavirus was launched on Thursday.According to Gov. Newsom’s office, the free CA Notify system “will help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.” Californians can opt into the digital tool “to receive COVID-19 notifications informing them if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for the virus,” Newsom’s office said.Officials confirmed CA Notify is “a completely private, anonymous and secure tool that does not collect location data from any device and never shares user identities.”iPhone users can enable CA Notify by going to Settings, and then to Exposure Notifications. From there, users will have the option to Turn On Exposure Notifications. Users will then choose United States, followed by California.Android device users who want to be notified will have to download the CA Notify app from the Google Play store.How CA Notify functions, according to state officials:“When individuals voluntarily activate CA Notify, the tool uses Bluetooth technology to exchange random codes between phones without revealing the user’s identity or location.If a CA Notify user tests positive for COVID-19, they will receive a verification code to plug into the app, if they choose. Any other CA Notify users who have been within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more of the COVID-19 positive individual will get an anonymous notification of possible exposure.CA Notify will accelerate how quickly people get notified of a possible COVID-19 exposure, giving people the information they need to make responsible decisions around quarantine and testing.Users who have tested positive for COVID-19 will get a text from the California Department of Public Health at 855-976-8462 with a code which they can enter into CA Notify triggering an alert to phones of people who may have been exposed in the previous 14 days.”The CA Notify system began this fall as a pilot program at UC San Diego and UC San Francisco. 2011

Timothy Valero, he and his wife are expecting their second child. Since he is deployed, and could not be with his wife to find out the gender of their baby, she wanted to reveal it in a unique way.Veteto was a punter at the U.S. Naval Academy, so she filled a football with colored power and sent it his way.Surrounded by a group of Marines in the 5th Fleet area of operations, he kicked the ball.A big pink powdery cloud revealed they are having a baby girl.“It was fantastic breaking open the football,” Veteto said. “The Marines were excited about it and I appreciated that.” 872

(KGTV) – A powerful tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman was unveiled this week at Downtown Disney in Anaheim.The mural shows Boseman exchanging the “Wakanda Forever” salute with a child wearing a Black Panther mask.Nikkolas Smith, a former Disney Imagineer who was on the set of the Black Panther film, created the new art installation called “King Chad.”The actor silently battled colon cancer for years, even while filming some of his major movies. He also visited children who were also fighting cancer.Boseman passed away on Aug. 28 at the age of 43.Smith said in a statement, “As a former Disney Imagineer, I had the honor of working on a major children's hospital initiative and Avengers Campus as my final two assignments. Seeing Chadwick's heart for people in-person, and later discovering his courageous battle with cancer, I was inspired to create this tribute to honor his life and legacy ... (KGTV) - Did an HOA really order a Texas family to take down the inflatable snowman in their front yard because it's too early for Christmas decorations?Yes!In addition to the snowman, the Simonis family has a reindeer and a Santa helicopter in their yard.On November 4th, the HOA sent them a letter saying they needed to remove the snowman until closer to the holiday season. Exactly when "closer" is wasn't specified.Claudia Simonis is due to give birth December 25th and wants her children to be able to celebrate Christmas early. So the family has no intention of removing their decorations.They have the full support of their neighbors who are putting up their decorations early in solidarity. 707
