MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Delta Air Lines pilot from Minnesota was charged Friday with operating an aircraft under the influence of alcohol.Tests confirmed that 37-year-old Gabriel Schroeder, of Rosemont, had a blood alcohol level between 0.04% and 0.08% when detectives arrested him on a plane at the Minneapolis airport just as it started boarding for a flight to San Diego on July 20, according to the criminal complaint. The limit set by the Federal Aviation Administration is 0.04%, which is half the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.Schroder's first court date is Nov. 27. Court records don't list an attorney who could comment for him.According to the complaint, Schroeder told detectives that he'd had one beer and three vodka drinks the night before. He also admitted discarding an unopened vodka bottle that investigators found in an airport bathroom after he saw that security screening for crews had been stepped up.Delta removed Schroder from flying after his arrest. 986

NATIONAL CITY (KGTV) - National City mayor Ron Morrison is asking voters to change term limit rules to allow him to run for a fourth term in November.Morrison supports Measure B in next month's June 5 special election. Measure B would establish term limits for the mayor, city council, city clerk, and city treasurer. Officials could serve up to two four-year terms. However, it would essentially reset the clock, allowing Morrison to run in 2018 and 2022."If they want to keep the people in office that are in right now, whether it's the mayor, councilpeople, city clerk, city treasurer, they should have that right to be able to do that," Morrison said in an interview with 10News.National City voters passed Measure T in 2004, which imposed term limits only on the mayoral position, allowing three terms. Morrison was first elected Mayor in 2006.Opponents have put their own measure on the June ballot, Measure C. It would establish the same term limits, but count Morrison's time as mayor, meaning he could not run again.City councilmember Alejandra Soleto-Solis, who is running for mayor, supports Measure C, telling 10News it's time for new blood in the mayor's office. She opposes Measure B."It's one person trying to create a loophole for himself, at the cost of 3,000 for National City taxpayers," Soleto Solis said, referencing the cost for June's special election.Should both measures pass, the measure which receives the most votes will be enacted. 1476

MIRAMAR, Calif. (KGTV) - A mother took on the mission to organize donations for Americans evacuated from China, amid coronavirus concerns.Erin Dockery, wife of Commanding Officer of MCAS Miramar Charles Dockery, never thought in a million years that 240 evacuees would be in quarantine on base. But as soon as they came, she recognized they had a lot in common."We are a community that is familiar with loss, with heartache, with anxiety," Dockery said.RELATED: Second group of coronavirus evacuees released from quarantine at MCAS MiramarShe wasted no time jumping in to help, asking her husband for a point of contact and meeting with Health and Human Services Representatives to ask what they need."My original question was can we send letters, and then it grew to monstrous proportions," Dockery said. She got a list of needs, and put out the call on two military spouse Facebook pages. What she didn't expect was a tidal wave of donations.Everything from laundry detergent, to hotel sized toiletries (to prevent waste), to games, "all kinds of letters, love, acknowledgment, tips."RELATED: 3-year-old at Rady Children's tests negative for coronavirusOne of the requests still sticks out in her mind. "Young children in China eat a lot of eggs, hard-boiled eggs and they were having a hard time satiating that need ... How do you say no to the babies?" she asked. "The babies need their eggs, and within minutes that SignUpGenius was full, like 8 dozen, 8 dozen, 8 dozen."When families flew in and found out their luggage was misplaced, Dockery's car filled with clothes in a couple hours. RELATED: Pizza-lover gets surprise delivery after leaving coronavirus quarantine"There was a few Marine Corps shirts in there, so I'm wondering if anyone is sporting our gear," she said. Now that both groups of evacuees have been released, stories of gratitude are starting to reach Dockery."They've [Health and Human Services] gotten thank you cards, they've gotten you know, 'thank you so much to the community making it easier for us'. I was like, 'can you take pictures?' Because that's the cool stuff, it's nice to know, we wanted to send them a message," she said. That message, according to Dockery, is the military is here to protect and help every American. 2266
