On Friday, Xi is scheduled to meet with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. He will also address the Vietnamese parliament on China-Vietnam relations.
The latest development came as Chinese Premier Li Keqiang started his three-day official visit to the ROK, where he met with President Park Geun-hye before the duo jointly witnessed the signing of 17 bilateral cooperation agreements in areas including trade and economy, science and technology, environmental protection and people-to-people exchanges.
Gideon Chitanga, a researcher at the Centre for study of Democracy at the University of Johannesburg, said that by explaining China's role in helping South Africa during the war against apartheid, President Xi demonstrates that China is a real friend of South Africa with good intentions.
Previously, the Red Cross Society of China had donated 100,000 U.S. dollars to Afghanistan as emergency assistance to help the quake-hit nation.
China and Vietnam have been in close contact on infrastructure cooperation and the deal can be regarded as a model for win-win cooperation between the two countries, as both sides expect connection of China's Belt and Road Initiative with Vietnam's Two Corridors and One Economic Circle plan.
