WASHINGTON (AP) — FBI Director Chris Wray says he regards antifa as more of an ideology than an organization. That differs from President Donald Trump, who has suggested that antifa be formally designated as a terror group.Wray did not dispute in testimony Thursday to the House Homeland Security Committee that antifa activists were a serious concern. But he said it’s not a group or an organization.Hours after the hearing, Trump took to Twitter to chastise his FBI director for his statements on antifa and on Russian election interference....And I look at them as a bunch of well funded ANARCHISTS & THUGS who are protected because the Comey/Mueller inspired FBI is simply unable, or unwilling, to find their funding source, and allows them to get away with “murder”. LAW & ORDER! https://t.co/yHLzB0RQ8e— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 18, 2020 But Chris, you don’t see any activity from China, even though it is a FAR greater threat than Russia, Russia, Russia. They will both, plus others, be able to interfere in our 2020 Election with our totally vulnerable Unsolicited (Counterfeit?) Ballot Scam. Check it out! https://t.co/mH3vrHWvS8— Donald J. VISTA, CA (KGTV) -- San Diego is known as the succulent capital of the world, and a recent Cal State San Marcos grad is taking advantage of it. While many small businesses are struggling due to the pandemic, Jessica Cain's succulent business is flourishing. It's called "in Succulent Love", where the plant artist creates with succulent and pumpkin."I just kind of play around with them, arrange them, and then commit to gluing them."And there is a good reason as to why she likes working with succulent. "Ii found such a cool fascination to the colors, shapes, and varieties," she says. Now when Jessica graduated from college, she thought she'd go into public relations. Little did she know that her hobby would become her career."I actually started creating succulent pumpkins with my grandmother every fall as a hobby. I just posted some photos on social media my first year out of college, and it just blew up."So just a couple of years out of college and her hobby turned into an online store called "in Succulent Love. She also hosts teaching workshops, and she has even written a book titled "Stylish Succulent Designs.""I like to call it a succulent cookbook. It's 40 different do it yourself plant projects, primarily focused on succulent, and how to create them."Now what she did not expect was the COVID-19 pandemic. And while other businesses have struggled, hers has done just the opposite. "That's why it's been so popular during COVID because people are wanting activities to do at home that are not necessarily puzzles and bread baking, and really creating new hobbies and memories."Jessica is making plenty of memories in a career that she says took her by surprise. "Ii had no idea what to expect. I just kind of say this life chose me. This succulent has just totally blossomed into this crazy dream." 1830

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is shaking up his campaign amid sinking poll numbers, replacing campaign manager Brad Parscale with veteran GOP operative Bill Stepien.Trump and Parscale’s relationship had been strained since a Tulsa, Oklahoma, rally that drew a dismal crowd, infuriating the president.Parscale was a political novice when he ran Trump's digital advertising in 2016 and was credited with helping bring about his surprise victory.Stepien has been in politics for years, working for former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and serving as Trump's national field director in 2016.In a Facebook post, Trump said that Parscale would remain on the campaign as a senior advisor focused on digital and data strategies. 736

WASHINGTON (AP) — Military suicides have increased by as much as 20% this year compared to the same period in 2019, and some incidents of violent behavior have spiked. Service members are struggling with isolation and other effects of COVID-19, in addition to the pressures of deploying to war zones, responding to national disasters and addressing civil unrest. The data is incomplete and causes of suicide are complex, but Army and Air Force officials say the pandemic is adding stress to an already strained force. The numbers vary by service. The Army’s 30% spike pushes the total up because it’s the largest service. 629

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court sounded skeptical Monday that President Donald Trump could categorically exclude people living in the country illegally from the population count used to allot seats among the states in the House of Representatives. But it also appeared possible that the justices could avoid a final ruling on the issue until they know how broadly the Trump administration acts in its final days in office and whether the division of House seats is affected. No president has tried to do what Trump outlined in a memo in July — remove millions of noncitizens from the once-a-decade head count of the U.S. population that determines how many seats each state gets in the House of Representatives, as well as the allocation of some federal funding.Justice Amy Coney Barrett was among several members of the court who said the administration’s argument for broad discretion in deciding whom to exclude is troublesome because “a lot of the historical evidence and long-standing practice really cuts against your position.”The court decided to hear the case on a fast track, based on the administration’s plea for a decision by early January, when Trump is required by law to transmit census numbers to Congress. The Census Bureau is supposed to send the data to Trump by Dec. 31. However, the bureau said last month they are checking anomalies and the data will be delayed. They did not give a new date, only saying they hope some data will be available in January. Another unknown is if data quality will be affected by the pandemic, a shortened schedule and natural disasters in 2020 that displaced thousands of people. In 2019, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration could not include a question on the census that asked if a person was an American citizen. 1791
