GRAND BLANC, Mich. - A 17-year-old is in trouble with Michigan State Police and, most likely, his parents after being clocked doing 138 miles an hour on I-75 in near Grand Blanc.The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on November 23.Troopers clocked the 2012 Chevy as it was in the left lane of Northbound I-75. Troopers say the driver tried to "duck off" onto E Holly Road but was caught by the trooper.According to MSP, the driver said he was "traveling so fast and passing other cars and sucking in and out of lanes" because he was late for his 9:30 curfew.MSP says the trooper "gave the kid a break" on a reckless driving charged, but did give him a ticket for going 138 mph in a 70 mph zone and "the SMH award."His ticket carries an unknown fine and four points. 777

GLENDALE, Wisconsin -- A woman filed a civil lawsuit against four members of the Glendale Police Department. The suit filed in federal court is demanding million.She claims the investigation into a dog attack that took place in March 2017 was not handled properly. The suit claims the woman was attacked by a 3-year-old Presa Canario and suffered injuries to her head, back and wrist that required more than 140 medical treatments, including 11 staples in her scalp, puncture wounds on her back and an injured wrist, which needed three surgeries to fix.A police report from the incident claims that her hand was "completely covered in blood and her hair appeared to be blood soaked."The woman also claimed the attack resulted in emotional trauma.The dog qas temporarily quarantined for 10 days. The woman also claims that police were not aware of procedure for dog attacks.The woman no charges were filed in the incident, and when she called repeatedly for an update in the investigation, a sergeant told her that "f you don't like the way we handle this get yourself an attorney and sue us."Both the Glendale police chief and the city's attorney declined to comment, citing pending litigation.Glendale City Attorney John Fuchs issued the following statement."She went into the dog's yard and approached the dog. I love the possibilities,” she said.Swapp has always been crafty, whether in the workshop or at her home.“Photos and stories are super important to me and it brings me joy,” she said.However, for a few years, she couldn’t bring herself to create anything.“When Cory passed away, I just couldn’t scrapbook anymore,” she said.Cory is her second oldest son.“Cory called me and told me that he loved me and told me goodbye,” she said with tears in her eyes.Just months after his 16th birthday, Cory died by suicide.“I was completely shocked,” Swapp said. “I didn’t even know that was tumbling around in his mind.”She said Cory was seeing a therapist at the time of his death.“We had met for about an hour and it was a very tender and wonderful conversation,” she said.About 45 minutes later, Cory was gone.“The hard thing about suicide is you’re left with questions and it’s not one question, it’s 10,000 questions,” Swapp said. “It’s questions that you will never have answers for.”Through a podcast called “Light the Fight,” Swapp started talking about the things most families struggle to talk about – mental illness.Alongside her for each weekly episode is Cory’s therapist.“Both of us had been in that room and both of us had been trying to help him,” she said.Now, they help others.“I believe 100% that if we can shine light and if we can talk about stuff, then we’re in the fight and we can go to work,” she said.It was what motivated Swapp to go back to work and to create once again.In a way, Cory is there too. GREENWOOD, Ind. -- There's nothing like a cold ice cream cone on a hot day. On Wednesday, a large group of second grade students from Greenwood Schools got to take a field trip over to a local ice cream shop after reaching their reading goals.The students who earned 50 Accelerated Reading (AR) points got the sweet treat from Mrs. Curl's Ice Cream Shop. Fifty points is the equivalent of reading 100 books -- quite the accomplishment for these young readers. "This year we had more kids than ever before," said teacher Amber Ploutz in a Facebook post. "So you can imagine it was quite a sight, all of us walking down."As the group of students crossed the city streets, they walked past a group of construction workers. Ploutz said one of the workers out front heard that the students were being treated to ice cream for reaching their reading goals. Instead of just congratulating the students, he took it a step forward and really made their day."He paid for all 54 kids' ice cream cones," said Ploutz. "He didn't want any recognition and said he did it because he was proud of all the hard work they put into school and told them to keep up the great reading."In return, Mrs. Curl's Ice Cream Shop paid that man's good deed forward. The shop gave out free drinks and ice cream to all members of the road crew and also to the police officers helping direct traffic in the area.The worker didn't want any recognition for his random act of kindness, and only gave students his nickname, to remain anonymous.
