A man released on parole from prison two weeks ago stole a police SUV near Dayton, Ohio, and crashed into a minivan filled with children, killing two 6-year-old girls, police said Tuesday.Ten others were injured, including five children and the suspect. One child remained in critical condition, police said.Dayton's police chief said that 32-year-old Raymond Walters was driving at nearly 100 mph (161 kph) in the stolen police cruiser through the city's downtown Monday night when he ran a red light and hit two vehicles.The family in the minivan had just stopped at a library and was leaving when Walters slammed into them, police said. Six of those inside the minivan were from the same family and the other child was a relative, police said.A coroner identified the two who died as Eleanor McBride, of Huber Heights, and Penelope Jasko, of Dayton. They were cousins, the family's priest told the Dayton Daily News.It all started when Walters stabbed his father and then took off in his father's pickup truck, said Police Chief Richard Biehl.Walters' father was driving him to a hospital to undergo a mental health evaluation and when he found out he attacked his father, Biehl said.Soon after driving off, Walters crashed in the neighboring suburb of Riverside and then he jumped into a Riverside police SUV that had responded to the crash, police said.The officer had not known about the stabbing and had no reason to suspect that Walters might try to flee, said Riverside Police Chief Frank Robinson. A family is hoping to locate their fallen soldier's American flag after it was stolen from their truck.Shawn Marceau told FOX 12 his truck was broken into in Yakima, Washington and inside was an American flag that belonged to his son, Joe, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.He said the signatures of his son and two other fallen soldiers are displayed on the flag."The significance to anybody is really nothing, but to us, it is so personal because it's their last signatures in their lives,” said Marceau. “And I think that is what makes it so important to us. It is part of our son and he had it there with him when he was killed"Marceau hopes someone will find the flag and return it and said there will be no questions asked if returned.  765

A day after indicating a formal NFL request for information on an alleged physical assault involving star running back Kareem Hunt didn't occur until last week, Cleveland police said Wednesday the league was given a copy of the police report in February.The report did not go through the official public records request process, police said on their website. Instead, a member of the Cleveland Division of Police gave the report to an NFL representative.On Tuesday, police had said the league didn't make a formal request for records or body camera video until Friday.The NFL, which was harshly criticized for its handling and investigation of an assault in 2014 by former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, countered that it began looking into the February 10 incident involving Hunt days after it occurred.An NFL spokesman said Tuesday the league had requested information in February from the police and from the hotel where the event occurred.Hotel surveillance video posted Friday by TMZ shows the now-free agent kicking and shoving a woman in a late-night altercation outside a Cleveland hotel. The same day the video was posted, the Kansas City Chiefs waived Hunt, who led the NFL in rushing last season, and the league placed him on the commissioner's exempt list, meaning he cannot participate in any football activities until the NFL investigation is complete.Police didn't file charges in the case."In these instances, the victim is referred to the city prosecutor to file a misdemeanor charge," police said.Hunt admitted to ESPN in an interview aired Sunday that he acted inappropriately in February."Honestly, I never met the girl before besides that one time," he recalled.
