SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A stylist in Bankers Hill says a "style-and-dash" customer stiffed him on a hefty bill for hair extensions.Stylist Wesley Horn says the young woman, a repeat customer, came into Plush Salon on Friday to match her hair for extensions. The next day, for several hours, he applied and blended the hair."They looked great. She loved it. She was raving about it," said Horn.Horn says when it came time to pay the cost of more than ,000, she offered to pay through the Venmo app."She said the app wasn't working, and then she offered to pay cash," said Horn. She told Horn she had to go to the car to get the cash."Fifteen minutes go by. I text her and ask, 'Are you close?' She says, 'Yes.' Forty minutes go by, and nothing. I call her, and I'm blocked from her cellphone," said Horn.Horn filed a police report, but because she hasn't been named a suspect in a crime, 10News is not identifying the woman. Horn posted details of the incident on the Nextdoor app. The replies included several more accusations of fraud against her, ranging from dine-and-dash incidents to credit card fraud and identity theft."It's insane. Don't know how she goes around feeling good about herself ... I spent a lot of time and effort to make sure she felt good about herself ... and she scammed us," said Horn.10News did try to contact the woman, but she hasn't returned our calls. Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2000. 1461

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A stolen trailer belonging to a local Boy Scout troop has been recovered, but nearly all of the inventory is gone. Some wooden poles and some cooking supplies are what they found in a previously stuffed trailer. Nearly 50 scouts strong, Boy Scout Troop 11 out of University City was prepping for a camping trip when the packed trailer recently disappeared from a church parking lot. The trailer contained all of the troop's camping equipment - some ,000 worth - from tents and stoves to cooking equipment, used for the camping trips and cooking events for homeless shelters. The theft puts those excursions in jeopardy.RELATED: Thieves leave Chula Vista Boy Scout troop heartbroken"It's just devastating because the equipment is so important to us ... We try to put smiles on other people's faces. It's just challenging because a lot of scouts come to our troop to camp and do more things, but we can't do that without our equipment," said Roman Greer, one of the scouts in Troop 11.On Monday night, the trailer was found along a road in the Mission Bay area. Greer is happy to have the trailer back, but disappointed that the thief looked inside and then decided to raid it."To have Boy Scout insignias over the equipment, that's entirely terrible because you're knowingly taking away from kids and their experiences growing up," said Greer.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help the troop repurchase the equipment. 1480
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An emotional sentencing hearing was held downtown Tuesday for a driver behind a fatal Chollas View crash last March. In March, 36-year-old Jacqueline Castillo reportedly had drugs in her system when blew through an intersection in Chollas View, slamming her car into another car, killing 62-year-old Brenda Lee.“I want to put a face to that name. Brenda Doreen Lee was my sister,” said Lee’s brother, Ronnie Lee, as he held her framed photo up for the courtroom and Castillo to see. “You made choices to get loaded. You made choices to drive on a suspended licensed. You made a choice to drive erratically."The crash happened in the early afternoon by an elementary school. Castillo later pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter. “The horrifying images I saw will never be removed from my mind,” said Lee’s son, Myrell Johns. He fought off tears as he described how his family’s life has been destroyed. “I often think about my mother's terrifying thoughts that may have occurred moments before and after the impact of this person's vehicle plowing through my mother's driver side door." Judge Laura Halgren sentenced Castillo to six years in prison. “We're all human but I believe that every mistake doesn't deserve forgiveness,” Johns told the courtroom. 1284
