SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A family from Chula Vista is desperately looking for their 9-year-old loved one. Erik Ochoa was swept away by the current in Rosarito on Easter Sunday. Ochoa lives in Tijuana with his father. His sisters, Zusel and Hilary live in Chula Vista. The boy was with two other children walking along the beach in Rosarito when they were swept away. One boy made it out of the current and ran to get an adult nearby. The third child washed ashore, lifeless, 25-minutes after going missing. Erik hasn't been seen since. The sisters have been looking for their brother since they heard about what happened. They've been going from Imperial Beach all the way down to Border Field State Park.The Mexican Navy is actively searching on the Mexican side. The U.S. Coast Guard broadcast a message to boaters telling them to be on the lookout. Erik was last seen wearing green shorts and a striped shirt. The family tells 10News the Mexican Navy will search until Sunday.  1008

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Clairemont man convicted of stabbing his mother to death was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison Friday.Joseph Robert Burks, 31, was convicted in June of first-degree murder in the July 24, 2017, slaying of his 58-year-old mother, Angela Burks, who was a longtime Otay Ranch High School science teacher.Police say Burks used a stun gun to incapacitate his mother, before stabbing her more than 20 times in the head, neck, and throat at the home they shared.RELATED: 499

"That’s just my opinion."Rosati said he believes people were working out a safe distance apart."I know it’s very safe, there’s disinfectants everywhere, they’re wiping everything down all day long in between each person," he explained. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The U.S. Department of Defense announced Wednesday its phased plan to distribute and administer the COVID-19 vaccine from the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton.The DOD is working with the Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.As one of the 64 jurisdictions to which the United States government has allocated vaccines, the DOD plans to administer its initial allocation of 43,875 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to populations of uniformed service members -- both actives and reserves. That includes members of the National Guard, dependents, retirees, civilian employees and select contract personnel.The department is prioritizing DOD personnel to receive the vaccine based on CDC guidance, first focusing on those providing direct medical care, maintaining essential national security and installation functions, deploying forces, and those beneficiaries at the highest risk for developing severe illness from COVID-19 before other members of the DOD population.Distribution will be conducted in phases. Due to limited availability of initial vaccine doses, the first phase will distribute and administer vaccines at select locations.Initial distribution sites -- including the two local sites -- were selected by the DOD's COVID Task Force based on recommendations from the military services and U.S. Coast Guard, to best support several criteria:-- Anticipated supply chain requirements, such as cold and bulk storage facilities-- Local population of at least 1,000 priority personnel across the military services-- Sufficient medical personnel to administer vaccines and actively monitor vaccine recipientsThe distribution of the allocated COVID-19 vaccines will begin once the Federal Drug Administration authorizes the COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use and in accordance with Operation Warp Speed guidance.Other distribution sites in the continental United States include Fort Hood, Texas, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. 2200
