CINCO RANCH, Texas – Investigators say a 29-year-old man was shot and killed by intruders who broke into his suburban Houston home.The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says Brenton Estorffe was killed early Wednesday at his home in Cinco Ranch, a community 26 miles west of Houston.Sheriff Troy Nehls says Estorffe told a 911 operator that someone had broken a window in the back of his house. The man confronted the two intruders and was shot. The intruders then fled."The father woke up and confronted apparently two individuals, at which time there was some gunshots that were fired and the homeowner, a white male, is deceased inside the residence," said Nehls.Nehls says Estorffe didn't appear to be armed. CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. — Several people were injured after a vehicle slammed into the back of a horse-drawn buggy in Carroll County, Indiana, on Sunday evening. Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby says a 30-year-old woman was driving northbound on State Road 75 just after 5:30 p.m. when she ran into the back of the buggy, which was carrying eight passengers. The driver told deputies that she had leaned over to pick up something on the floorboard and didn't realize the buggy was in front of her until it was too late. She said she tried to brake, but wasn't able to stop in time before slamming into the back of the buggy. 638

Facebook announced Wednesday it is imposing stricter disclosure and transparency standards on political ads in the United States after, the social networking platform said, it caught some advertisers trying to game the system by misleading users about who was funding the ads.But the tighter rules still leave some holes that could be easily exploited.Under the new system there are two ways for groups or individuals to verify their identity: A stricter method under which advertisers Facebook has verified will receive a special "Confirmed Organization" label on their ads, and a second method indicating less confidence in the advertiser's identity.To obtain a "Confirmed Organization" label, advertisers will need to provide a US address, phone number, business email, business website and one of the following: a tax-registered organization identification number, a government website domain that matches an email ending in .gov or .mil, or a Federal Election Commission identification number.Advertisers who don't have or don't want to submit such credentials will be able to alternatively submit some basic information about their organization like addresses, emails and website, or rely solely on the page administrator's legal name, though the organization will be ineligible to use a registered organization name in their disclaimers or to receive a "Confirmed Organization" label.The new policies are aimed at curbing political advertisers' attempts to mask their identities or impersonate others.
