He plays the saxophone and has been practicing the performance in band class and at home too.Dominic is cognitively impaired. Because of his special needs, he often practices with a plastic digital saxophone with ear-buds. The device can help the instructors measure his progression. On concert day Dominic was ready to perform using his own shiny saxophone. But according to his family, Dominic was told by an administrator that he could not play his instrument with the band. He was instructed to use the plastic saxophone - with earphones.Dominic was upset and his loved ones were too. We’re told he and his family did not agree to this. They also say, with this device, Dominic’s the only one who can hear his music. It is silent to the rest of the world.The family believes this is discrimination and exclusion. A blaze that burned several days at a petrochemical facility in suburban Houston reignited Friday, emergency management officials said.Crews are responding to the Intercontinental Terminals Company, a storage facility in Deer Park, Texas, after two tanks appeared on fire, the Harris County Emergency Management Joint Information Center said.Emergency responders are trying to determine which tanks are on fire, an ITC representative said."We are coordinating with federal, state, and local officials to resolve the issue as soon as possible," the company said in a statement.The US Coast Guard has closed part of the Houston Ship Channel near the facility in response to the breach, ITC officials said.A shelter-in-place order has not been issued in Deer Park at the moment, Harris County emergency management officials tweeted.The fire had been extinguished Wednesday after burning for several days. It began in a single tank Sunday afternoon and quickly spread to a second tank, the company said.By Tuesday, seven tanks were burning. The tanks contained chemicals that go into making gasoline, including xylene, naptha and pyrolysis gasoline, known as Pygas.No serious injuries have been reported. A landspout tornado briefly touched down in New Jersey on Saturday and the high winds flipped over a car.The tornado moved across a warehouse parking lot in Mount Laurel Township about 2 p.m. ET before overturning the car, the National Weather Service said.It also passed over a nearby warehouse building, causing minor roof damage."Portions of roof material were pulled back causing the roof to bow. Two air conditioning units were torn off the roof. WASHINGTON, D.C. – They are three simple digits that could be the difference between life and death. A proposed three-digit number – 9-8-8 – is on the verge of becoming the new nationwide hotline for suicide prevention. “I think that shortening the number to three digits really has the opportunity to save so many lives,” said Alison Malmon, founder of Active Minds, a national non-profit focusing on mental health. “The prominence that this three-digit number will bring to suicide prevention is extraordinary.” For Malmon, a new suicide prevention hotline is personal. “As the survivor of my brother's suicide, it really means so much to me to know that lives will be saved through culture change and through bringing more prominence to the issues around suicide prevention that this three-digit number will bring,” she said. For years, the suicide prevention hotline has been a 10-digit 800-number: 1- 800 – 273 – TALK. Mental health experts say shortening it makes it easier to remember and could save lives in the process. “If we were in an emergency situation, we're stressed and it's hard for us to remember a lot of things,” said Charles Ingoglia, president of the National Council for Behavioral Health. “And so, I think the idea behind moving to a three-digit number related to suicide is to facilitate people being able to contact help easily and quickly.” Each year, more than 47,000 people in the U.S. die by suicide: that’s one person, nearly every 12 minutes. “If you look at where we are now the highest numbers of suicide we've seen since World War II,” said Colleen Creighton of the American Association of Suicidology. “So, clearly we need to change something we need to get something done and having a really easily accessible three-digit code is the way to go.” It’s a move welcomed by those forced to face a loved ones’ loss to suicide. “There's so much change on the horizon,” Malmon said.
