The event, previously held on the beach at the Hotel Del Coronado, will take space Sept. 28 at the Del Mar Arena. DETROIT (AP) — Walmart is teaming up with the General Motors’ autonomous vehicle unit to test driverless delivery in Arizona. The companies say battery powered Chevrolet Volt vehicles will begin deliveries in Scottsdale early next year. At first they’ll have human backup drivers who will monitor the cars and help to deliver packages to doors. But Ray Wert, spokesman at GM’s Cruise autonomous vehicle unit, says they’ll eventually move to fully autonomous deliveries. Walmart says customers will be able to place an order and it will be delivered contact-free by a Cruise vehicle. The retail giant says it’s one of several autonomous vehicle pilot projects designed to chart a new roadmap for retail sales.Wert says the testing with Walmart will start small and gradually ramp up to more vehicles. He did not know how many Volts would be used at the beginning.The company says it started an express delivery service in April and now has it in over 2,800 stores that reach more than 65% of U.S. households. 1015

(KGTV) -- High winds in the Descanso area knocked over two big rig trucks early Thursday morning, prompting emergency crews to rescue people trapped inside.At around 4 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were called to eastbound Interstate 8 near Japatul Valley Road after reports a semitruck toppled over due to the strong winds swirling in the area.Two people were removed from the truck and taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.Moments later and a few hundred feet away, crews rushed to another big rig that was knocked down by the winds.Crews broke the truck’s windshield and extricated a man, woman and dog trapped inside the cab. It is unknown if the couple and dog were injured.A High Wind Advisory was issued for I-8 from Lake Jennings to Forrester Road; high-profile vehicles are prohibited on that stretch of I-8. 872

DENVER – Funeral services for a pregnant Colorado woman and her two daughters, who were killed earlier this month and dumped at an oil and gas site will be held Saturday in Pinehurst, North Carolina.The family of 34-year-old Shanann Watts, her daughters, 4-year-old Bella Marie and 3-year-old Celeste Cathryn, and Shanann’s unborn child, which the family said was going to be called Nico, announced in the Sandhill Sentinel that funeral services would be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pinehurst.“She was out pride and joy, a true gift from God,” Shanann’s father and mother, Frank Rzucek and Sandra Onorati Rzucek, wrote in her obituary. “We were so blessed to have such a joyful and wonderful daughter whose beauty was that of a doll.”The obituary says Shanann battled Lupus during life and that Celeste’s birth was exciting because of her struggle with the disease. She and her family were originally from North Carolina.The family asks people to donate to the Lupus Foundation of America, the Frederick (Colo.) David Katz, the shooter who killed two people and wounded 10 others before taking his own life at an e-sports tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday, was in treatment for psychiatric issues at least as early as the age of 12, according to family divorce records.Katz, who was 24, was prescribed a number of psychiatric medications, including an antipsychotic, and saw "a succession of psychiatrists," according to a 2006 letter from the father's attorney. A separate 2006 court filing states that a therapist said David had experienced a "psychiatric crisis."CNN also obtained police records that show 26 calls for service to the police from the Katz family home in Columbia, Maryland, from 1993 to 2009, for issues ranging from "mental illness" to domestic disputes. At least two of those calls involved Katz arguing with his mother, though none of the reports provided to CNN show any physical violence. The Howard County Police Department declined to release the reports from a number of the incidents, citing statutory restrictions.Since Sunday's shooting, the family has told investigators that David Katz suffered from mental health issues, according to a law enforcement source who described the family as being very cooperative with investigators.
