SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Neighborhoods near the Miramar Landfill are reporting a resurgence of awful odors they believe are coming from the landfill. "You come out the door in the morning and it just hits you," said Matty Wuest of University City. About a mile away, fellow resident Janis Deady concurs. "Like last night at in the morning," she says, "the smell woke me up out of a dead sleep." So, exactly what does it smell like? The distant neighbors are at no loss for words. "If you take the natural gas smell," said Matty, "Mix that with dog poop and vomit. That's what it smell like." Janis said she'd lived near the landfill for more than 20 years without an issue, but that changed about three years ago. "All of the sudden in the 2016 we started smelling putrid, disgusting, horrid smells."The distant neighbors say complaints in 2016 lead to hearings with the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District; resulting in fines for the City of San Diego and mitigation measures that appeared to solve the problem. But in recent weeks they say the smell is back."You shouldn't have to live like that," said Janis, "Not when we pay these taxes." A public information officer for San Diego said by phone the short story is the rain. That as soon as the Miramar Landfill has a chance to dry out from all the recent rains, the odors will dry up as well. But residents say that's not sufficient. "I hope the city would mitigate this and not blame it on the rain or other excuses." Said Matty. "Bottom line," said Janis, "It's got to stop. This is from 2016 to now. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Months after her husband passed away, a San Diego woman is still waiting for answers from the hospital that cared for him.Trish Zdravecky says her husband Peter stayed at Select Specialty Hospital in Hillcrest for over three months due to kidney and diabetes complications. During that time, more than ,000 worth of his jewelry went missing. "I would like someone to return the stuff. I don't need the money. I'm good. But it would be nice to have the items that were on my husband when he went into the hospital," said Trish.Among the items missing: an ,000 Rolex, gold necklace, gold bracelet, and his UC San Diego class ring. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police have released photos of the man accused of badly beating a Pacific Beach bouncer Sunday night. According to police, four men tried to enter through the side door of a restaurant on the 700 block of Grand Avenue around 9:20 p.m. Sunday when a bouncer told the group they had to use the main entrance. As a confrontation escalated, police say one of the men picked up a metal crowd barrier pole, hitting the bouncer in his head. Others in the group then reportedly started fighting with other bouncers at the restaurant before all four men left, according to police. The bouncer who was hit in the head suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another bouncer suffered a broken nose and two other staff members suffered some bumps and bruises. The man suspected of swinging the pole was described as black, in his 30s, 6 feet tall, and 250 pounds with a muscular build. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying several suspects they say robbed a man before threatening him with a gun.The robbery happened on August 11 around 5:24 p.m. near the Forever 21 at Fashion Valley Mall.Police say the two suspects approached a 27-year-old and asked to use his iPhone before grabbing it and running away.When the victim ran after both men, the second suspect pulled a gun out of his waistband and told the victim he “did not want any of this.”RELATED: 0,000 stolen cello returned to ownerFearing he would be shot, the victim stopped chasing the suspects, who were last seen running toward Friars Road.
