SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man climbed through a window of a Pacific Beach home Monday morning and attacked a woman in her bedroom before fleeing, police said.Dispatchers received a call around 5:15 a.m. from the victim, who reported that she found a man in her bedroom after he apparently entered through a window of her home on Grand Avenue near Olney Street, San Diego police public-affairs Officer Billy Hernandez said.The woman also reported that the man had attacked her, but she was able to get away and lock herself in her roommate's bedroom before calling police, Hernandez said.Officers arrived and searched the home, but found no one inside. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A public hearing regarding the proposed placement of a convicted sex offender at a supervised home in Pauma Valley is scheduled for July 31, officials said today.Joseph Bocklett, 75, was convicted of three sexual offenses over a 19- year period involving victims between the ages of 4 and 9, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. He was last sentenced in 2000 to a 17-year prison term and later civilly committed to Coalinga State Hospital to undergo treatment.Bocklett is classified as a Sexually Violent Predator, a designation for those convicted of sexually violent offenses and diagnosed with a mental disorder that makes them a danger to the public.Bocklett petitioned the court last year to be granted release into the Conditional Release program and on Monday, the Department of State Hospitals proposed that Bocklett be housed at 15077 Adams Drive.Sexually Violent Predators are monitored via GPS ankle devices and are typically placed in low population areas.Members of the public may submit comments regarding the proposed placement location until July 14. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a BNSF freight train at the Old Town Transit Station in San Diego, authorities said this morning.Officers responded to the station, in the 4000 block of Taylor Street near Congress Street, at 9:25 p.m. Friday and found the victim dead at the scene, according to Deputy Brian Abraham of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The age, gender and name of the victim were not disclosed.Anyone with information about this incident was asked to call the sheriff's department at 858-565-5200. 553

SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- A man accused of intentionally driving a pickup truck off Sunset Cliffs and into the ocean with his twin toddler daughters inside is slated to be arraigned Monday.Robert Brians, 47, is charged with 13 counts, including attempted murder, kidnapping, child abuse, child abduction, criminal threats and burglary for allegedly driving into the water on the morning of June 13 with his 2-year- old daughters inside the truck. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An ex-con and repeat DUI offender who was drunk when he drove on the shoulder of the freeway near Tierrasanta, striking and killing a tow-truck operator tending to a disabled trash truck, was sentenced Friday to 15 years to life in prison plus 10 years.Michael Gilbert Gray, 50, pleaded guilty in August to second-degree murder and admitted two serious felony priors, including a domestic violence conviction for hitting his wife and rupturing her eardrum.Charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and leaving the scene of the Feb. 23, 2017, collision that killed 55-year-old Fred Griffith were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.Griffith's sister, Danelle Ragsdale, said in a letter to the court that her brother -- a single father to three boys -- was "needlessly ripped from all of us."Ragsdale said Griffith and his three sons -- ages 15, 18, and 21 -- were "inseparable.""He (Fred) worked hard for the boys so they would have a good life," the victim's sister said in the letter read in court by Deputy District Attorney Cally Bright. "Fred was a ship in the night who would help you find your way to safety."Griffith's friend, Randall Resch, wrote in a letter that the victim was a "gentle giant" and one of the best heavy-duty tow-truck operators in San Diego County."Fred touched the hearts of everyone who knew him," his friend said. Authorities said Gray's blood-alcohol content was .27 percent -- more than three times the legal limit -- at the time of the accident.
