SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A security guard at a bar in Little Italy was sentenced Friday to six years in state prison for shooting a patron during an argument outside the establishment.Dangelo Jeffrey, 24, pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of assault, discharging a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon for the April 20 attack that began at the El Camino Bar, 2400 India St., according to Deputy District Attorney Mary Naoom.Around 2 that morning, Jeffrey got into an argument with the male victim and others, and made threats. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Military officials today publicly identified a U.S. Marine who was fatally injured in a weekend training accident at Camp Pendleton.Staff Sgt. Joshua Braica, 29, was behind the wheel of a MRZR tactical vehicle that overturned Saturday at the military station north of Oceanside, according to Maj. Nicholas Mannweiler of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command. Two other Marines suffered minor injuries in the crash.Braica, a critical-skills operator with 1st Marine Raider Battalion, was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he succumbed to his injuries Sunday evening.The Sacramento native enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2010 and served as an intelligence specialist with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, and with Marine Aircraft Group 36.Braica deployed to the Pacific Command area of operations with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2011, and to the Indo-Pacific Command region with 1st Marine Raider Battalion in 2017.His military decorations include a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.He is survived by his wife and son. 1284

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - National University announced Wednesday its Board of Trustees approved a plan to reduce the cost of attendance through tuition cuts of up to 25% for full-time students and adding scholarships that will make enrollment nearly free for Pell Grant eligible students.The actions -- made possible through a 2019 gift to the La Jolla university's reserve fund by philanthropist T. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Vista man who possessed child pornography and also secretly recorded an underage girl showering at his home via hidden camera was sentenced Friday to seven years in federal prison.Following his release from custody, Jeffrey John Lenhof, 41, will also be on supervised release for 10 years, during which he will be required to comply with conditions that include a prohibition from having contact with minors or accessing the Internet.Lenhof pleaded guilty last year to a receipt of child pornography count, following a law enforcement investigation into suspected child pornography on his computer.Homeland Security Investigations found that from as early as March 2017, child pornography files were made available from his home via a peer-to-peer file-sharing program, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.A search warrant served at his home in April of 2019 resulted in the seizure of three computers, an iPhone and an SD card that contained child pornography or were used to download or view child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.Investigators also found videos that appeared to have been recorded with hidden cameras in his home and other locations.One video showed a teenage girl, aged 13 or 14, entering the bathroom of his home, undressing and showering, with no indication she is aware of the camera's presence, court documents state. The U.S. Attorney's Office said a man witnesses confirmed was Lenhof can be seen setting up the camera prior to the girl entering the bathroom and retrieving it after she left.A second search warrant served at his home last year led to the seizure of three additional hidden cameras, prosecutors said."Today's sentencing highlights the hard work of our agents and the U.S. Attorney's Office to take a child predator offline, and should serve as a warning to others who perpetuate the exploitation of children," said Cardell T.
