SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Saturday were asking for the public's help in locating an elderly woman who went missing from her son's Mira Mesa home.Martha Carrington, 83, was seen leaving her son's apartment in Casa Mira View, east of Westview Parkway and north of Mira Mesa Boulevard, between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, San Diego police said.Carrington suffers from schizophrenia, high blood pressure and the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, officers said.Her family doesn't believe she took any money with her, and she has no cell phone.Carrington was described as black and about 5-feet-8-inches tall. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties like condominiums and townhomes both fell more than 15 percent from October to November, according to data released Friday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors. Single-family home sales fell from 1,719 in October to 1,452 in November, a 15.5 percent drop. Attached property sales suffered an even steeper drop, falling 22.8 percent from 942 in October to 727 in November. Home sales have trended down in the second half of the year since the high water mark of more than 2,200 single-family homes and nearly 1,200 attached properties sold in June.Month-over-month home prices also fell from October to November, albeit not as drastically. Single-family home prices dropped 1.4 percent from 3,700 to 5,000, while attached property prices fell 5 percent -- from 8,000 to 7,000. Prices of single-family and attached properties have remained steady for most of the year, according to the GSDAR.``The end of the year and the holiday season are usually a sluggish time for home sale activity,'' said SDAR President Steve Fraioli. ``But it does appear that the pace of home price growth has slowed. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County will have enough water for 2019 in spite of low rainfall and high temperatures over the past year, the San Diego County Water Authority announced today.Rainfall during the 2018 water year, which ran from Oct. 1, 2017, to Sept. 30, totaled slightly more than three inches at San Diego International Airport, the county's precipitation measurement site. SDCWA officials say that's 67 percent lower than usual and the county's second-lowest annual rainfall total since 1850.Despite the scant amount of rain, the Water Authority expects that increased water-use efficiency and many water supply facilities will keep the county well-stocked with water for the immediate future. The Carlsbad Desalination plant produces roughly 50 million gallons of safe and drinkable water per day and the San Vicente Dam currently holds about 100,000 acre-feet of water after the Water Authority took action to conserve water resources because of recent droughts.One acre-foot of water, roughly 325,900 gallons, can supply two four-person households for a year, according to the agency."It has been very hot and dry, but we have invested wisely in infrastructure, and regional water use remains well below where it was at the start of the last drought," said Jeff Stephenson, the Water Authority's principal water resources specialist. "In fact, potable water use over the past three-plus years was 17 percent below 2013, which shows that San Diego continues to live WaterSmart."San Diego County currently has "severe drought" conditions, according to a regional classification by the U.S. Drought Monitor, but the investment of more than .5 billion over the last 30 years for local water infrastructure improvements has paid off, according to the SDCWA.Along with that investment and hedging against future droughts, the county is expected to see more rainfall in the coming months, Stephenson said."We are looking for a wet winter locally, and in the Sierra and Rocky Mountains, to help replenish reserves for future years," he said. 2060

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian near a Logan Heights intersection.The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 25th Street and Imperial Avenue, east of Interstate 5 and south of state Route 94, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said.A man, whose age was not immediately available, was walking westbound in the left-turn lane of Imperial Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on Imperial, Buttle said.ABC 10News learned the victim was dragged several yards; the driver of the suspect vehicle, described as a silver or gray two-door sedan, fled the scene without stopping.No description of the driver was immediately available.The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the officer said.
