SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — WWE Wrestler John Cena paid his friend and rookie Padres pitcher, Logan Allen one dollar, after losing a bet he made a year and a half ago. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two fires sparked Saturday afternoon in East County, in addition to a thunderstorm in Pine Valley, created dicey conditions for firefighters.Cal Fire Captain Thomas Shoots said the humidity made a huge difference, "the monsoonal moisture the stickiness has been good because it's helped keep our fires small," slowing the spread of flames.The Bratton Fire sparked in Lawson Valley around 1:30 p.m. and scorched 4 acres. Then around 2:10 p.m., the Sloane Fire started burning in Dehesa, blackening 18 acres.Both were knocked down quickly."We hope that people don't get complacent that we've hit these fires very aggressively and it's worked out," Shoots said.He said if we didn't have the humidity we would be in trouble, "there's a lot of fuel that comes with a good winter so that grass crop is all cured out and ready to burn."Shoots said they were keeping their eye on the thunderstorm in Pine Valley.The National Weather Service reported a severe thunderstorm warning with quarter-sized hail and gusts up to 60 miles per hour."We knew it wasn't going to be to the extent that the north saw when the storms rolled through but it was still definitely a potential concern," Shoots said.Looking forward, Shoots says we need to be very careful, "San Diego and a good chunk of California is sitting at a higher potential for wildfire activity in October-November."He advises creating defensible space around your home not only to protect your home but protect your family if you can't escape in time.Shoots said he hopes firefighters are able to get a handle on the fires in Northern California and stay safe.He said 96% of all Cal Fire engines are working, which shows how extreme this fire season is.More than half of Cal Fire San Diego's resources have been sent up north to help, including 32 engines. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Traveler satisfaction stagnated year-over-year as airports struggle to keep customers happy, according to J.D. Power. According to the report, construction projects and passenger volumes are at least partly responsible for the trend. San Diego International ranked 13th out of 27 in the large airport category, with a score of 774 out of 1,000. To reach the conclusion, the report looked at six factors: Terminal facilities; airport accessibility; baggage claim; security check; check-in/baggage check and food, beverage and retail. “With major terminal construction projects now underway in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and many other airports, it is becoming impossible for travelers not to experience some form of disruption,” said Michael Taylor, Travel Intelligence Lead at J.D. Power. “While these projects are absolutely necessary to address surging demand, they are currently causing passenger delays and confusion. This translates into a rushed passenger experience and less money spent on food, beverage and retail—and it’s slowing the progress of the airport satisfaction we’ve seen in the past several years.”Meanwhile J.D. Power says the experience of getting through security at the airport has improved by five points. The study is based on responses from more than 32,000 U.S. or Canadian residents who traveled through at least one U.S. or Canadian airport that covers both departure and arrival experiences over the last three months. San Diego (KGTV)- Another section of the bluff has collapsed in Encinitas. This comes almost exactly one year after the deadly collapse that killed three women on the beach.Large mounds of rock sit at the foot of the cliffs on Stonesteps Beach, in Encinitas, after the bluffs gave way early Sunday morning. Lifeguard Captain Larry Giles tells ABC 10News the collapse stretches 40 feet along the beach.The block failure sits just over a mile and a half from Grandview Beach in Encinitas. Julie Davis, her daughter Annie Clave and sister Elizabeth Charles were tragically killed at the site a year ago after the bluffs came crashing down.10News spoke with Davis' husband, Dr. Pat Davis, last week on the anniversary of the collapse. He says more needs to be done to keep Encinitas beach-goers safe."There's very few new signs warning people about these cliffs," says Davis. "There's very little coordination by the lifeguard service to warn people about how dangerous these cliffs are."Lifeguard Captain Larry Giles says no one was hurt in this weekend's collapse. The block failure was caused by natural erosion.Giles says there is a small area on the cliff that is still causing some concern. Lifeguards and the City of Encinitas are monitoring the area.Dr. Pat Davis says that as his family mourns the loss of their loved ones, he can't help but think about beach-goers."I think we're looking at a situation where what happened to my family could easily happen again."Davis has been working with local and state leaders to stabilize the bluffs. He hopes a new bill will help. It offers solutions like sand replenishment. That bill is currently moving through the state Senate. 1685

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection Tuesday arrested a woman they say was trying to smuggle more than 230 pounds of drugs into the U.S. with her five children in a van.Officers say the incident happened on April 9 just after noon at the Otay Mesa port of entry.During an inspection of the family’s Honda Odyssey, authorities found anomalies in the spare tire well, quarter panels, doors and gas tank.RELATED: Teens targeted to smuggle Fentanyl across US-MexicoAfter inspecting the vehicle, officers found 206 packages containing methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.The estimated street value of the drugs is more than million, according to CBP.“CBP has seen many forms of drug smuggling through the years,” said Pete Flores, director of field operations for CBP in San Diego. “The hardest ones are when adults include their children in attempted smuggling schemes.”RELATED: Border Patrol agent arrested in North San Diego County on drug, weapons chargesThe woman was arrested and taken to the Los Colinas Women’s detention center.
