YAOUNDE, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has met here with Cameroon's Prime Minister Philemon Yang with both vowing to further develop bilateral ties.During their meeting on Wednesday, Hui said since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cameroon 40 years ago, the peoples of the two countries have stood together through thick and thin and enjoyed the steady development of bilateral ties featured with political mutual trust, frequent exchange of high-level visits and increasing volumes in bilateral trade.Hui said the friendly cooperation ties between China and Cameroon are in the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples and contribute to the common development of the two countries.He said China is willing to work together with Cameroon so as to push the bilateral ties to a new high.Hui also made five-point proposals on developing the China- Cameroon ties which include further consolidating the political foundation of bilateral ties and continuing to understand and support each other on the important issues of core interests and common concern, further expanding economic and trade cooperation with China continuing to encourage its enterprises to cooperate with Cameroon in the sectors, among others, of infrastructure construction and air transportation, boosting agricultural cooperation and explore the ways and means of strengthening and deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries, enriching the people to people and cultural exchanges of the two countries and considering to sign the new implementation plan of the cultural accords between the two governments at an appropriate time and strengthening the cooperation and coordination between the two sides in international affairs and working together to maintain the interests of the developing countries.For his part, Philemon Yang said in the past 40 years, Cameroon has always regarded China as a friend that can be trusted and the two countries have conducted cooperation in various areas.The prime minister said that his country is pleased that China has kept creating economic miracles, and that China has shared its development achievements with the world so as to realize the win- win.Philemon hoped that China will provide more aid to Cameroon in the sectors of irrigation works and highway construction.After their meeting, Hui and Philemon attended the signing ceremony of four accords including the economic and technology cooperation accord between the two governments.

MOSCOW, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Representatives and financial institutions from China and Russia on Wednesday signed 13 agreements worth eight billion U.S. dollars.Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, the two chairmen from each side of the Joint Commission for China-Russia Regular Meetings of Heads of Government, attended the signing ceremony held at the fifth China-Russia economic and trade summit forum.Among the deals were two financial agreements worth 236 million dollars, 10 cooperative agreements on economy and technology totalling 5.3 billion dollars, and one trade agreement worth around 320 million dollars.The agreements covered a wide range of areas including commercial trade, investment, mining, manufacturing, construction and telecommunications equipment.The signing of the 13 agreements has fully demonstrated the continuous deepening and broadening economic cooperation between the enterprises of China and Russia, thanks to the efforts of the governments of the two countries.

BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing sector rose to 55.2 percent in November, up 0.5 percentage points from October, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said Wednesday.The figure marked the 21th straight month that the index was above the boom-and-bust line of 50 percent.The PMI includes a package of indices to measure performance of the country's manufacturing sector. A reading above 50 percent indicates economic expansion, while that below 50 percent indicates contraction. 

NANJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- A kindergarten teacher who reportedly burned seven children using a hot iron on Tuesday has been detained for 10 days by police and fired from her teaching position in east China's Jiangsu Province, said local authorities on Saturday.The teacher, surnamed Yi, 30, of Banqiao Kindergarten of Xinghua City, said that "she did not know the iron was still hot when she used it to discipline the children," according to information released at a press conference held by the city government.The seven children were slightly burned on the face. The burns are expected to fade without treatment within two weeks and probably will not leave scars, according to doctors at Xinghua City People's Hospital.As of Saturday, two children had returned to class, one dropped out of this kindergarten, two remained at home resting and two are seeking treatment in east China's Shanghai Municipality, according to information released at the press conference.Further, the municipal police detained Yi for 10 days and fined her 500 yuan (75 U.S. dollars).The kindergarten owner apologized at the press conference and fired Yi.As for Yi's using an iron because she did not think the iron was still hot, many people did not believe this and posted threads online, such as "How could you still think the iron is not hot since you burned seven kids."But the police believe Yi did not foresee such consequences.Dai Yongjian with the city public security bureau, said the iron had been unplugged from the socket for over ten minutes before burning the children, according to Yi's co-workers."Yi had treated children well before the incident, according to our talks with the kindergarten owners, teachers and children' s parents," said Dai.The students' faces did not show any injuries until that afternoon, said Dai.Yang Qiuhong, mother of one injured child, named Wang Junhua, said , "I was angry at first, but now I forgive Yi and the kindergarten since Yi used to treat my child well and after this incident, the head of the kindergarten came to my home right away and took my child to the hospital."The police believed that Yi lacked necessary medical knowledge and did not seek treatment for the children immediately after their faces began to show signs of being burned.Yi was said to "regret her actions very much", according to Wu Gang, deputy chief of the municipal Education Bureau.Yi does not have a preschool teacher certificate, which is quite common in Xinghua City, since only 40 percent of the 1,600 kindergarten teachers have such certificates, said Wu.According to the regulation issued by the Jiangsu Provincial Government, such a certificate is required for some kindergarten posts, such as the head of the kindergarten and medical personnel. BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo said on Sunday that China and the United States should help ease the tensions on the Korean Peninsula and facilitate dialogues.In a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about the recent development on the Korean Peninsula, Dai said that China is deeply concerned with the dynamics in the area.Beijing holds that the immediate priority is to try to calm the current situation and reject any move that might escalate the tensions, he added.At the critical moment, Dai said, China and the United States should actively play a constructive role and take concerted efforts to mitigate the situation as soon as possible and safeguard peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.The starting point of all Chinese efforts is to maintain the peninsula's peace and stability, he said, adding that all relevant parties should make joint efforts to secure an early resumption of negotiations and seek solutions via dialogues.Clinton, for her part, said that Washington and Beijing share common interests in maintaining the Korean Peninsula's stability and that cooperation is of pivotal significance.The United States is willing to work together with China to keep peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula, she added.The two sides also agreed to maintain close contact on the issue.An exchange of artillery fire between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and South Korea last week killed four people, and aroused the concerns of the international community.
